Smokey and the Bandit was one of the most famous product tie-ins ever, although it initially was incidental. However, for the Transformers series, the product tie-in was deliberate, boosting the Camaro’s image and giving fans a limited-edition Camaro that screams “guess what movie I like?”
With Transformers: Age Of Extinction hitting theaters later this month, General Motors felt a behind-the-scenes preview was in order. Certainly the filmmakers couldn’t have done it without GM’s support, as the automaker gave them carte blanche to go nuts with their facilities, including some cars that aren’t quite ready for exposure to the general public. You’ll also find old show cars like the Corvette XP-700, too, if you look hard enough.
Simply put, more resources equals more opportunities to create a Hollywood blockbuster. But don’t let us make you assume it’ll be great—for now, whet your appetite with this preview and see for yourself starting June 27, 2014.
