Award-Winning 1974 Super Duty Trans Am On eBay

There are thousands of special cars on eBay, but some are more special than others. This 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with the Super Duty 455 is an iconic example from the muscle car era, a car that some feel is the greatest Firebird ever made. Coming at a time when emissions and crash regulations were crippling the way companies engineered cars, Pontiac employed their best to create a Firebird faster than all other American cars, all the while still fitting within regulations.

This Trans Am looks sharp from every angle and has the artistic “Screaming Chicken” on the hood, all done in a color scheme that matches American racing colors—what better combination for America’s fastest car for 1974? Combine that with the four-speed manual (one of 212 built) and the documented 15,250 miles on it, and this could be among the top hardtop muscle cars in the country.

But here’s the most important item—the price. The seller has it for sale at $149,900. A potential buyer made an offer, which was declined. This dealership is known for high-end cars with astronomical prices, and most collectors prefer the rarer 1973 version. As far as cars that are sharp-looking, have a great V8 engine, and can be bought for less than $150,000, take a visit to your local Aston Martin dealership, then, ask yourself which car you’d really rather have.

  1. I took delivery of my 2014 Corvette Stingray back in February. When I did, I noticed that the vehicle didnt have a CD Changer or player. I realize that much of the music today is played via phone, USB, Internet radio……I happen to have a large collection of CD’s that I purchased over the last few decades. If I were to purchase and download every CD I own, I would need an extremely large hard drive and probably close to $100,000 to buy them on ITunes. Adding a CD Changer should have been an option. And now, each Chevy dealership should have an affiliated Audio company that can install a Changer without voiding any warranties. What can you suggest for me as I really would like the ability to listen to my CD’s.

    1. You could trade it for a Malibu LS with a standard CD player.

    2. In all honesty, rip all the audio off the CD’s and backup every single thing. Skip iTunes. Hard drives aren’t prohibitively expensive, and cost per TB is lower than ever. CD changers are simply legacy products of the 90’s that are obsolete and GM should have no part in offering obsolete thrid-party products in their cars. Besides, CD changers aren’t scaleable when it comes to very large collections such as yours.

  2. Not sure why this is here but.

Your new radio should be Bluetooth capable. All you need to do is rip your CD collection to a simple desk top computer and then down load the files to a MP3 player or convert it to I tunes as you down load for free.

I have 10’s of thousand’s of songs on CD and have them all down loaded so I can play anything I like in the new car.

Just on my phone I have 20 thousand songs that I can play just with a push of a button on the steering wheels and it cost me nothing to have ripped them to files and install on my phone. I could drive my car for months and never hear the same thing twice. Maybe a years with a phone with a lager memory.

In the end the CS is either gone or will be gone soon. I would suggest converting over now as it is cheap and easy. Also it provides back up if one of the CD’s are lost to damaged.

I too at first was Leary about the new Bluetooth but now I wish it was in all the cars. I can even play the audio from my Dish TV through my audio system now. So I can hear sports, news, TV shows and even Satellite Radio music for no additional cost from my Dish receiver.

By the way I have driven a 455 SD and it is amazing.
