Earlier today, an auction for a 1954 Corvette had closed on eBay. Duffy’s Collectible Cars in Iowa put this classic dream car on the online garage sale. Specifically, it sold for a cool $225,000. This steep price might make you think what we’re about to tell you. This wasn’t just any 1954 Corvette.
This Corvette is known as the “Pizza Man” Corvette. If you call yourself a grandparent and found yourself at the drag strip as a young child, you might have seen one of these in action in its hay day. The Pizza Man Corvette had an inline-six engine that put up a quarter mile time of 12.17 seconds, which was great for its time. It earned more points than any other car in the NHRA World Championships over a three year period and beat Dick Landy and the Dodge Factory Team at the 1968 Winternationals.
That sounds like $225,000 in racing pedigree alone, so the car is definitely worth the money for anyone that has it, as there was no buyer. This one even comes with Firestone 500 drag tires, so look for this auction to resurface very soon.
