Man Wakes Up To Find His Corvette On Fire

In a case that police are calling arson, a Newport, TN man was awaken early Saturday morning to the sight of his cars—including a Corvette—on fire. John Jones was waken up by his wife Leslie, who said she heard a loud noise outside. Further investigation uncovered a side of their house was extremely warm. They then looked outside and saw three of the couple’s four vehicles on fire.

Aside of $7,500 of damage to the side of the house, a Hyundai and GMC Sierra were destroyed. However, the 1998 Corvette convertible was the most disappointing loss. All three vehicles had insurance, with total losses estimated at $61,000.

The reason why police are calling it arson is because the Corvette was 50 feet away from the house and other vehicles. A suspect the couple has had problems with in the past has been named, but no other information is available at this time.
