Make No Compromises With The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado SS: eBay Find

General Motors last real performance truck came in the way of the Chevrolet Silverado SS, which hasn’t been offered for several years now. The Cheyenne Silverado Concept from last year’s SEMA show may hint at a possible current-generation SS truck, but as of right now, there are no known plans to put a vehicle of the type into production. This means those looking for both an SS badge and a convenient package have to turn to eBay.

The Silverado SS, while not rare, doesn’t frequent the for sale section of any dealership or car sales website. A relatively well-cared for example has popped up for sale on eBay with a reasonable Buy It Now price of $12,500, which is about as cheap as one of these pickups is going to get. Unfortunately, this one has a bit body damage on the rear driver’s side, but it’s nothing that couldn’t be fixed.

The damage can be easily looked over for the 345 horsepower 6.0-liter Vortech V8 and all-wheel drive. 2003 models such as this were all equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and leather interior, and not drums like some of the later, rear-wheel drive only models. This truck also has a Flowmaster exhaust and Corsa exhaust tips, so it sounds as good as it goes, too. Check out the listing here.

  1. I believe you mean “compromises” instead of “comprimises,” yes?

  2. These were too much then and I would not give $12.5K for a dented truck.

It was a nice looking truck but just priced way too far out for what you got.

  3. Please. The 6.0L Vortec isn’t worth a penny. Underpowered, inefficient, and unreliable. Just what I want in an engine! That is why I am angry that GM didn’t install the new 6.2L ECOTEC3 V8 in the HD’s.

    1. Unreliable?? You sir are mistaken. And im sure cost has alot to do with them not putting the 6.2 in the HD. It will get it sooner than later though.

      1. My father has had several Chevrolet trucks, but his 2004 2500HD Silverado LS Crew Cab 6.0L is by far the worst pickup ever. At 140K miles, it is on its third transmission, second engine, second set of shocks, second power steering pump, third fuel pump, fourth set of o2 sensors, second stereo system, and third gauge cluster.

If GM can put the 6.2L V8 in the 1500’s, they have enough money to incorporate it into the HD’s engine lineup too.

    2. If there’s anything that’s not reliable on the 4.8/5.3/6.0 Vortecs, it’s the Ls7 lifters.

  4. My 6.0 ’02 ECSB pushes 428 rwhp, and adding a new cam this weekend, possibly going to push 450.
Don’t worry, there are plenty of us out here that are keeping the SS dream alive with tribute builds. Some trucks exceeding 1250 rwhp.
I have no body damage to my truck either.

Keep lying to yourself; no one but you will believe it.
