General Motors Recalls 58 Chevrolet Silverado And GMC Sierra HD Pickups

General Motors is recalling 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD pickups for a problem involving the retention clips which attach the generator fuse block to vehicle body. This recall is part of the 2.4 million vehicles that were recalled by GM earlier this month.

The problem: According to an NHTSA summary of the defect, “in the affected vehicles, the retention clips that attach the fuse block to the vehicle body can become loose, allowing the fuse block to move out of position. If this occurs, exposed conductors in the fuse block may contact the mounting studs or other metallic components, causing a short-to-ground event.” This issue may pose a fire risk if combustible materials are close by when the fuse block arcs. No accidents or injuries have been linked to the problem.

Number of vehicles affected: 58 HD pickups are affected.

The fix: Dealers will inspect the 220-amp generator fuse block and ensure the retention clips are holding it in place properly. If an issue is discovered, they will make the necessary repairs. No date has been set for the recall as of yet.

Contacts: Owners may wait for a recall notice to arrive, or contact their local dealer. They may also contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC at 1-800-462-8782.
