General Motors Recalls 140,000 Chevrolet Malibu Sedans For Brake Issue

General Motors has announced it is recalling 2014 model year Malibu mid-size sedans due to a problem with the vehicle’s brakes, according to Automotive News.

The Problem: Affected models may have their brake vacuum assist and hydraulic boost assist disabled. GM said “increased brake-pedal effort and stopping distance will be required, increasing the risk of a crash,” in the event of a vacuum assist or hydraulic assist failure.

Affected models: 2014 Chevrolet Malibus with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and equipped with an engine start-stop feature are affected.

Number of affected models: About 140,067 vehicles are involved in the recall.

The fix: GM has begun sending letters to dealers in regards to the recall campaign. Owners will begin to receive written notification their vehicle is affected shortly. So far, no fix for the faulty parts has been named.

Contacts: Those with an affected vehicle may contact their local dealer, or Chevrolet directly at 1-800-222-1020.

  1. Thank god my 2LTZ 2.0t hasn’t had any major recalls.

You have to admit that rear end looks pretty darn good! Especially with a spoiler like mine!

  2. I have had too many problems out of my 2016 Malibu LT 1.5. I have taken my car into several Chevrolet companies but no one can diagnose it. My start stop constantly start back up and continue turning over. I can’t shut my car off or move it. Then if I just let it go it eventually stop. Very scary because it happened on a main highway. I have reach out to the CEO of GM, they don’t give a dam. I was told they would give me a follow up call and no one called. Like I said they made these cars and don’t know how to repair them. I have had plenty issues with this car. I’m a Chevy girl but after this Malibu, it’s time to switch up. Shoulda read all the bad reviews before purchasing this lemon!
