Donks are a love it/hate it thing, bred from a subculture that isn’t really about cars. So what happens when you combine a car that enthusiasts enjoy with the donk treatment? This late-model Camaro answers that question.
Truth be told, it’s almost akin to a boy-racer doing everything within his budget to make his car look faster but done at the expense of the vehicles integrity (plenty of 5.0 Mustangs like that, no?), but this Camaro may take the cake. According to LSXTV.com, this Camaro with 28-inch wheels rolled into a shop for alignment. Sections of the fender had been chopped out to make room for the rims. To give the suspension some lift, “… they re-drilled the coilover shock mounting holes in the lower control arm but in the front they welded on these brackets to elongate the strut and give them the clearance they needed.”
In other words, bush-league mods on a car that deserves better. Do you know of a car like this in your area?

Truth is unless the brakes are upgraded these are unsafe. The leverage of the larger diameter of the wheels changes the braking dynamic and increases braking distance.
I see so many guys enlarge wheels on cars and SUV then have brake issues including rear ending a car because they do not stop as well as they once did.
Too few install larger rotors and brakes to make this stop as it should.
I work in the performance aftermarket and see this as a very common mistake made by customers.
This is a deal you need to do the whole package to do it right.
I hate it when people do this to their cars.
This whole article is racist. Why do you have issues with people who see things differently?
Hahahaha….Did you just pull the race card? What a LOON!!! You mean why does he have issues with people who see things Gangsta?
I’ll pull the race card. You see someone behind a wheel of a vehicle like that, chances are they’re black or some white ass trash.
There, I said it. I feel better now.
Okay, Imp. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and I’ll entertain your claim that the article IS racist.
All you need is evidence; where is the racism in the article?
“What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.” – Hitchens
“donking” = DON KING
Not believable. Get lost.
I bet the same person who wrote this article is the same person who wrote an article on here saying Cadillacs arent in rap music anymore
Why is this racist as I see people of all color doing this modification?
While the writer may be not a fan of this style it does not make him a Racist.
As for the two negs on my post what is wrong about doing a job correctly and safe? Anything you enlarge wheels or tires brakes should be considered. No matter if it is a car like this or a lifted truck. I have just seen too many people have accidents from an issue too few ever consider or spend the needed money to do it right.
I’m entirely convinced that people who have their vehicle donked are covering up for certain inadequacies in other aspects of their life. That’s only explanation that makes sense, as 99% of donks are cars that had wheels smaller than 20 inches fitted at the factory when they were built.
Generally I HATE DONKs, although I have see some very well built varients (usually all are REAL DONKs: 1970-1976 Impalas, with Big blocks, super straight bodies, and no expense spare forged wheels and custom fabricated supension. Now, “Donking” is as played out as spinners. The guys inMiami Florida (where Donks originated) are competeing to see who can ‘tuck’ the biggest Wheel. IMHO a much better look all around.
But anyway, I hate seeing Camaro Donks, but at the same time I like that they are probably the most popular new car to do this to. It means Chevy is selling them as fast as they can build them, and that there is demand accross all demographics to help fund the ZL1, Z/28 and 1LEs we all love. It also means plenty of developement money for a awesome 6th gen Camaro.
99% of the Camaros are V6s. Not all across the board. You ever see a Donk zl1?
Where can I get a good Donk job on top?
I want to shore up the Camaro windshield like on the convertible and have a Targa top cut and installed. … I haven’t found a shop that does that work – and does it with quality workmanship. It looks like a lost skill. WHO KNOWS! ???

Here ya go.
Tanks. I may check them out but they seem to be making convertibles and offering T-tops rather than TARGA tops – like you see on Corvette Coupes.
@DB Cann
