The C7 Corvette Stingray was in short supply with only a 27 day inventory on hand last month, and when you take a look at the sales figures, it’s not hard to see why. The new Corvette has been in high demand ever since it first went on sale in October and through the first four months of 2014, sales have been equally as strong.
In October 2013, Chevrolet dealerships moved 4,000 2014 Corvettes off their lots. You wouldn’t be blamed for tacking that impressive number up to it being the first month of availability, but April’s results weren’t far off of that, with 3,514 units sold. Compare that to April 2013, when Chevrolet sold only 974 Corvettes, a year over year monthly change of 260%.
As of April, total sales of the C7 Corvette in 2014 were 11,693 units, compared to 3,915 during the same period last year, an increase of 198.7%. While it’s obvious the C7 Corvette would be in high demand in its first full year of sales, part of the reason for the dramatic sales increase was the car’s impact on sales of the C6 Corvette. There is no telling how many potential C6 customers saw the C7 at the Detroit auto show in January and decided to hold out for the new model.
With the addition of the 2015 Corvette Z06 and Z06 Convertible to the lineup along with the 2015 Corvette Stingray, which will be offered with General Motors’ new eight-speed automatic transmission, sales of the seventh-generation of America’s sports car should remain strong.

OK. it is true that not every great car sells well. But mostly its due to some really moronic fault, more often, its design. Mechanically a car can be fantastic with great use of materials and such, even great in economy , but if its designed to appeal to a small niche then you get small niche results. That was the case of a few car manufactures, Pontiac, Saab’s and many Volvo’s . The wonder here is not that past corvettes looked bad, they didnt, albiet they never looked properly refined or proportioned, and there interior designers must have been stricken with a case of blindness. Whats amazing here is that it has taken so long for GM to finally get it. To really get it!. The fact that IF you build it rite its actually cheaper in the long run, and certainly more profitable. DUh!!!! They finally understood NOT to listen to those money counters who budget a cars development and design down which only results in dwindling sales and ultimately a failing company. NO kick those accoutants out!! lock the doors!! and build the car the way its suppose to be built, no compromises. The C7 is GM’s first true successfully executed modern automobile. Athought the C7 is the result of incremental progression from C5,c7 is a true leap from c6 and more-over it is a true all new car, a phrase that is more than often a complete marketing lie. If you build it rite! it will sell!, the results we clearly see hear Up 260%. and thats only the beginning if you ask me. 2015 Mustang shouldve been as big as a leap as C7, And indeed theres alota of ‘new’ with the forthcoming Stang, but what doesnt look new is its design. a Ten year old design at that!. Its interior is merely a revision of a 10 year old design as is its body. So though the Mustang gets a load of new mechanical changes which will make it drive like an all new car, its looks may be an issue for its sales. needless to say the a good deal of Mustang sales or any other sports car will go to the new C7, without question. youd be a fool indeed not to opt for one. with high insurance for any marque why would you pass on such a deal. And gone are all the negative notions of the corvette. Its actually once again, cool for youth as well as adults, in fact its so cool its no-longer appealing to the 60+year old cotton head crowd. The C7 as stingray is much deserved.
As far as C6,, why? why on earth would anyone, opt for a c6 over a c7? im absolutely sure theirs a twisted few, all bewitched by some dealer trying to offload there lot of c6’s, But youd be the prince of fools to go c6 when the c7 is so much of a better car in every way.
