General Motors is recalling third-generation Cadillac CTS-mid-size sedans for a defect involving the vehicle’s windshield wipers.
The problem: According to GM, if the wiper stalks are left in the “on” position and the car is then turned off, the wipers may become restricted by something such as heavy snow, which will run the battery flat. Once the car is flat and a jump start is performed, the wipers won’t work.
Number of vehicles affected: In total, 19,225 CTS sedans are involved in this recall.
The fix: The front windshield wiper module will be replaced by dealers. GM has not yet said when it will begin the recall, however owners should expect to receive a notification requesting they bring their vehicles into a Cadillac dealer shortly.
Contacts: Owners may contact Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006 for more information.

That’s a bad news. The only new GM car that should not get any bad news now.
This is a non-issue, not worthy of a recall. This would usually be handled by a low-importance service bulletin. Only because of the hype in the media and the political pressure from our overzealous government ( see Toyota recall fines ) is GM now forced to react to any little thing with an over-abundance of caution. I have a 2014 Cadillac CTS, and I am certainly not going in for this maintenance item until I have the time and leisure to do so.
It’s a Cadillac. Any recall for it undermines the notion that a Cadillac is a superior product. Having GM act on it now will bolster Cadillac’s image and commitment to product superiority. You might not think this is a big deal, but when you’re trying to present your luxury brand as ‘the standard of the world’, then it is imperative that you act like the standard of the world.
