Shortly after auctioning off his 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 for a cool $500,000, motorsports tycoon Rick Hendrick turned around and, predictably, nabbed the first production 2015 Corvette Z06 tonight during the Barrett-Jackson auction in West Palm Beach. Last year, Hendrick ponied up $1.1 million and $1 million at two Barrett-Jackson auctions for the first 2014 Corvette coupe and convertible, respectively.
All of the proceeds will go to the Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of Chevrolet’s go-to charities.
A million bucks for the first production Stingray Coupe, Stingray Convertible and C7 Z06. Something tells us he’ll bid similarly when the first-ever 2015 Z06 Convertible inevitably crosses the Barrett-Jackson block.
Watch it all happen from start-to-finish in the video below.
Good story Manoli. I appreciate you getting the story on line so quickly following the event and also liked seeing the video since I was unable to catch it yesterday.
