Rick Hendrick Auctions Off First Production 2014 Camaro Z/28 For $500K At Barrett Jackson

Well-known NASCAR mogul and one of the world’s biggest Chevrolet enthusiasts, Rick Hendrick, found himself on the other side of the gavel for once on Friday afternoon when he auctioned off the first ever 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 for a whopping $500,000 at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach. Hendrick has been known to scoop up the first examples of Chevy performance vehicles for himself in the past, most recently he got his hands on the first 2014 Corvette Stingray convertible.

Camaro Z/28 VIN No. 001 was sold to Dave Flynn of the Flynn Automotive Group in Youngstown, Ohio. All of $500,00 worth of the proceeds for the vehicle will benefit AARP’s Drive To End Hunger program, which aims to address senior hunger with cash grants.  Drive To End Hunger also sponsor’s the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet SS driven by four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon.

Hendrick is expected to add to his Chevy collection today with the purchase of the rights to the very first 2015 Corvette Z06 to roll off the production line.
