Readers of German Automotive publication Auto Bild Allrad have voted the Opel Mokka sub-compact SUV as the ‘All-wheel Drive Car of the Year’ in the ‘Off-road vehicle and SUV up to 25,000 euros’ category for the second consecutive year.
The Mokka walked away with 18.7 percent of the vote, putting it well ahead of the next closest competitor, the Skoda Yeti at 14.6 percent which was followed by the Nissan Qashqai at 12.4 percent. The award was presented to Opel’s Executive Director of Sales, Marketing & Service, Jurgen Keller, by Auto Bild editor-in-chief Bernhard Weinbacher.
“We are very proud that our Mokka was able to defend its All-wheel Drive Car of the Year title,” Keller said in a statement. “A readers’ poll is always of very special significance to us. In addition, the readers of Auto Bild Allrad are extremely knowledgeable in the area of off-road vehicles and SUVs, which is why we value their opinion so much.”
Opel’s Insignia Country Tourer was also recognized in the awards for the first time, coming in third in the “4×4 Crossover” category behind the Audi A4 and A6.
The Opel Mokka has been a surprise success for the Russelsheim based automaker. In the 18 months it has been on sale, the subcompact crossover has sold more than 200,000 examples, making it a European bestseller.

If just this one model can rack up these kinds of sales figures then what the Hell is the problem for GM here in the US with only an Encore and its numbers and no Trax to help build more sales? Gauranteed some of ya will thumbs down me but I say Blow it out your arse.
Well It is not all that simple.
First off how much would they have to charge for a Chevy? It will not be all that cheaper than the Buick.
Second off how many sales would it steal from the more profitable Buick?
How many can the plant build and GM import if the Buick sells well?
How will GM deal with the fall out of Badge Engineering claims since the bodies are almost identical? GM is working hard to get away from that and this one would not help this cause.
I think you will see that GM was not sure how this would sell here and was surprised by the Buick sales. I would expect the next gen will arrive with a Better yet Buick and a Chevy that will look different and have more price room to work.
There is a lot more to it than just bringing it here.
I expect GM will bring it here when they get the right model to bring. Again the next gen is not all that far off as Gamma is headed for a replacement in a couple years.
