GM Authority has learned that General Motors is seeking to secure a trademark for the word “Elevation”.
The General filed for the application on April 4th, 2014 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The filing carries serial number 86242370 and is for the Goods and Services category of “Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks, vans, engines therefor and structural parts thereof”.
We’re curious to find out if GM will use the trademark for an upcoming vehicle, an upcoming trim level of a vehicle, an upcoming feature of a vehicle… or something else, entirely.

Colorado elavation? Maybe a raptor competitor or somthing. Just seems like a very truckish name. Could be for silverado too, but i think a small truck off road varient would be better for off road then a full size truck.
trim level
Could be a Air adjustable suspension.
Or a car that is square like an elevator. LOL!
As Zachary has suggested, hopefully it will be ‘colorado elevation’ – a colorado competitor to the raptor would be a great addition. Awesome off road capabilities, not too large, and somewhat (relatively) fuel efficient
Cadillac Elevation.
four door high end voltec to compete with Tesla
Maybe a name for an Envoy successor? I’m just guessing. Would be A good name the that Colarado raptor fighter too.
I’d love a new Envoy! Those SUV’s do not die..
Buick Elevation.
You can take that one to the bank.
Or on second thought maybe it’s Cadillac’s Lambda.
Cadillac Escalade (escalator)
Cadillac Elevation (elevator)
What other kinds of vertical transport can GM name a vehicle after?
i like the Cadillac Lamda Elevation
It could be the 2nd part to the patent “Thruview”. Maybe it’s an answer to Nissans’s 360 degree video view?
I think a new option like adjustable air suspension or new off-road trim level on the Silverado would help it’s image! Currently, I think the Silverado lacks aggressiveness and if tested I bet this is hurting sales. In my opinion a “raptor fighter” from Silverado instead of the Colorado would have more sales and higher profit margins! Plus, the new truck looks great when raised another inch or two and has off-road tires! Just look at the Black Ops concept!!
I think this will be used by Cadillac for the new larger full size 4 door sedan scheduled to arrive for 2016, “Cadillac Elevation” !
Maybe they are going to off a low rider?
Elevation , I suggest is the new midsize Buick cross over , between Encore and Enclave
I really do not see this as a model name.
I am betting on a feature.
My first thought was an adjustable suspension. I hope it will not be a model name.
