The Chevrolet-sponsored Manchester United will face off against Spain’s Real Madrid in a soccer match on August 2 at the University of Michigan’s “Big House” football stadium in Ann Arbor. Manchester United will wear their Chevrolet-branded match jerseys during the game, which is part of the club’s pre-season schedule for 2014-15.
The match, presented by Chevrolet, will be held at Michigan Stadium, the largest stadium in the United States with an official capacity of 109,901. It has the potential to break the record for largest ever attendance of a soccer game in the US, which was set during the 1984 Olympic Summer Games when 101,799 people watched as France beat Brazil for a gold medal at the Rose Bowl in California.
“We are delighted to be returning the U.S. This will be United’s first-ever match in Michigan, Chevrolet’s global headquarters. Playing at the iconic Big House will be a memorable experience for all involved,” said Manchester United Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold.
Presale tickets for the Manchester United v. Real Madrid match will be availaible on Monday, April 7 at 8:30 a.m. Ticket sales to the general public will begin Thursday, April 10 at 8:30a.m. through the Michigan Athletics Ticket Office. Ticket prices for the game will start at $45.
