By now, you have probably heard of General Motors’ decision to begin offering the Chevrolet Trax in America. The convenient little subcompact has been offered in Canada and Mexico since late 2012, and considering the surprising success the Buick Encore has experienced, it only makes sense to bring its bowtie-badged platform mate over the border too.
The Trax will arrive in time for the 2015 model year equipped with the same 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine currently on offer in the Encore. The engine is making 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque in the Trax, sending its power to either the two front wheels, or all wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.
Chevy made the announcement last night at a preview party prior to the New York Auto Show. They also announced the 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible at the event, but we know you’re more interested in the Trax. Check out the reveal video below, and let us know what you think about the decision to bring the Trax stateside in the comments.

The only one thing I like about this Chevy over it’s Buick cousin is the GPS or multi purpose screen is in the centre part of the dash (Chevy) and not sitting on top of the dash as an eye sore (Buick)! When will Buick change to this? Otherwise, I like the Buick trim much better… just my view tho
