It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Cadillac ATS Sedan will follow the recent styling cues of the recently unveiled 2015 ATS Coupe’s front clip, complete with a new grille and new Crest logo. Such an example has been spied recently, which can be found on Autoblog.
Reports of powertrain and technical improvements have not yet been indicated, but as this is slated to be only a mild refresh; there’s only likely to be minute power bumps, small weight savings and the like. Timing has not been confirmed yet, but it certainly seems that whenever the updated model debuts, it will be more than ready to continue it’s impressive charge in the hotly-contested luxury compact sport sedan arena.
But enough about coupes and sedans, how about a convertible?
Comments
I saw the coupe yesterday and I like it. Photos do not relay the true look of the car. The nose is much nicer and will make a improvement to the sedan.
This is really a sharp car in person.
Love the new front fascia! I hope they improve CUE as well and add an 8-Speed. CUE is not a bad system at all, but it can be slow and unresponsive at times.
As for the engines, I think what they have right now is more than fine. But I do have a few ideas such as adding more technology into them for better efficiency and boosting the power.
-2.5L I4 (VVT, SIDI and iVVL) with 205HP and 195FT-LBS
-2.0L Turbo I4 (VVT, SIDI and iVVL) with 280HP/305FT-LBS
-3.6L V6 (VVT, SIDI and iVVL) with 320HP/275FT-LBS
I like the new front clip.
Hopefully the other updates include an improved Cue, the weight savings and replacing 6-speed autos with 8-speeds.
The new grille looks amazing, nice look with the horizontal fin’s, I never really liked the vertical lines that gave it a square look
I used the Cue yesterday and it Is not as bad as some like to make it. But there are some things I can see they could do to make it more user friendly to people who are using it for the first time.
A couple hard buttons would make a difference. It is like the system in my GMC just trying to be fancier when it really does not need to be.
I expect some improvements soon.
Cue doesn’t need buttons to work Better what it needs is more people that are willing to learn how to use it, are willing to spend some time with the system, and read the god dam owners manual!
I see these people all the time talk about how hard of a system it is to use and I ask did you go over that part of the system in the manual?
They answer no! Well how can you properly learn how to operate something without reading the manual if there is something about the system you don’t understand?
Stop criticizing the cue system it works just fine and start criticizing the people who can’t figure it out yet!
Ats is a great Car
Now where are all those people who said a car with head lights that extend that far back on the fender will not sell?
There isn’t even a need for an owners manual nowadays. It should be an app, and it should be accessible from the ATS’s touch screen as well as from the owners phone.
Given some of the response to my comment, I’d like to point out that I said an improved Cue, not it sucks and trash it and start from scratch. It’s a good idea, but needs some tinkering.
Wow that sure is one heck of a looker, real sleek IMO.
The ATS is a fine car. The issues I have with CUE, are issues I have with all touch screen interface. In my opinion, touch screen in cars is not a good idea. CUE works ok when you are just sitting in the car, but when you are driving, you either have to ignore the touch screen totally, or take your eyes off the road to use it. I know there are voice commands and steering wheel controls, but my point is, 98% of the time you are in the car, you are actually driving, so you should be able to use the system without distraction. The solution, i think, is to integrate rotary or mouse like controller similar to what is in the Lexus, BMW, Audi and Benz. My daily driver is an E90 335i with iDrive, and my arm is just naturally resting beside the controller, which allows me access my phone book, nav, music etc with having to reach forward to use a touch screen. I really like the ATS, and i think it is a great alternative to the Germans in terms of driving dynamics, but it’s a shame CUE has become such a negative, and i think it is fixable.
Brian you can not just put things out and hope people adjust to them.
The fact is you can not make people provide will but you can provide them with a system that is intuitive with them to where they can connect with it and not have to read any instructions.
I think the Cue just went too far on the first attempt and should have left a few hard buttons. Then on the next gen remove more buttons.
You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make em drink. Same here you can give them a cue but if it is too advanced people will skip a car just because they did not connect with the interphase system.
I drive had the same issue but they fixed it. GM will fix Cue too. Computer geeks are always farther out than the general public and we see this interphase issue in other areas too not just cars.
Then why do they sell new cars with owners manuals? If people are supposed to just get in and start driving and know how every system works then why do they provide a book to flip threw?
You Can’t Apologize For Uneducated People!
Now on to the buttons, the system doesn’t need to spoon feed people off of buttons for a system like this!
People use to complain about trying to find buttons on radios a long time ago, now it’s touch screens.
If people would just take a few mins to learn how the system works instead of just pushing buttons and being mad at the system for not working they way it should! It’s called user error!
Brian, you don’t have a clue what you are talking about. It’s called intuitive. If you need to get the owners manual to learn to use basic stuff like Nav, radio, phone book etc, it means the system is not intuitive. Especially when you can sit in any competitors car and figure out the controls easily, without owners manual. Every manufacturer will tell you that if their system is not intuitive, it failed. Also, if you have to take your eyes of the road to use the touch screen, that is also a problem. Everybody, including GM, agree that CUE needs work, u are the odd man out.
I’m in the group of the smart people who can figure things out on my own then there’s the rest
I guess your in that other group!
You are an idiot. Let’s leave it at that
Yea I’m the idiot and you can’t figure out how to use Cue system on your own!
You tell me who has a hard time using their gray matter?
Brian the owners manual is there because it is the instructions for the car. Now consider that 75% which may be low never read it.
Add to this number of people who just go to the dealer that check the cars out and find if they can not operate the system with out reading instructions they term it difficult to use and often can pass up a car just for this reason.
For me I may have had more issue with it but my GMC Intellilink gave me enough background I knew where to find things or understand the Cue thinking. Someone never using this system in traffic could be very displeased on not knowing where to find things.
The key to all these system even in systems like the new windows is to be able to comprehend how to use them and find things on sight.
Now not calling you an idiot but once a Ford Engineer said they have to idiot proof cars so people can use and function them with never reading instruction or being given direction.
With the technology in todays cars it is more and more important to read the owners manual but yet many today still do not and if it is a rental they may not even have one.
This is a good system that is just a generation ahead of what it needs to be in terms of a few simple buttons. GM will make the changes and once people are used to the new system they will advance it again.
The key here is if this car was sold to someone 20 years old odds are it would not be an issue but most are sold to people 45 years and older who are not as tech savvy in many cases.
The key in all these new systems is to connect it well with the demographic it is intended. If not you will have a customer that is not going to be drawn to a car because he can not understand how to turn the heat on or change the radio in his test drive. We will not even go to how to link the I phone here.
You just can tell the customer to read the instructions and if they can figure it out tell them FU.
BMW leaned this the hard way with I drive when it first came out. Many called it can’t drive. Today some tweaks and changes have made it a usable system that many love and understand.
When it comes to tech some people have it and some don’t. the younger you are the better but you still have to cater to the customers needs when they plop down $70K for a car. Even the idiots money is good!
If you need to be spoon fed on how to operate a touch screen then that’s just sad!
Brian it is what it is.
The larger the general public crowd the lower the collective IQ. People should not do crack but they do. People for the most part can not use a cell phone and drive with out effecting those around them. Heck many can not even use their turn signal when required.
The truth is you can’t fix stupid and you have to make attempts to address the lowest common denominator if you want to sell products.
Most magazines are written to a 12 year old level and those who are higher just have to deal with it as they are not the majority.
I feel these auto park features are stupid. If you can not park your car you should not be driving but yet there is a segment out there than can not park and this feature sells cars. Same on the collision alerts. I have mine turned off as the false readings are more a nuisance than a help. But yet for those distracted from driving be it a cell phone of trying to figure out their touch scree it may save my rear bumper.
I appreciate the dumb as they make average guy like me look good so there is a good side to them. LOL!
The truth is it is not just the stupid as I do know some folks that are on the other end of the scale where they are so smart they are disconnected to the everyday things. Some can’t pass even a simple driving test but they can split an atom and built an airplane only using a fork and some cardboard boxes.
The world is made up with all kinds and automakers need to hit a specific target to meet the needs of the majority. This is why we have idiot lights in a car as they never read a gauge.
