This Fiero Jeep Conversion Thing Confuses Us: Craigslist Find

We often feature crazy, sometimes hideous, creations which are found for sale on the internet’s strangest and sketchiest public marketplace, Craigslist. Today we bring you this custom 1988 Pontiac Fiero, which appears to be the result of a mating session between GM’s little mid-engine sports car and a late ‘90s Jeep TJ.

The ad for this strange Fiero-Jeep hybrid was first found by Jalopnik, but it has since been taken down. According to the seller, the body kit used was actually designed for 1984-87 model year Fieros, so he had to modify it to correctly fit onto the 1988 chassis. What’s more, we have our doubts the lift kit actually helped the Fiero to become a capable off-roader, so now it’s bad at driving both on and off the road. Oh Dear.

Personally, we prefer the 350 small block swapped Fiero we featured last year to this car, but there is no denying this thing would be a hoot to drive – if not a little dangerous.

  1. These have been around for years. It is call a Jalapeño.

It was a kit from PISA Corp and generally they did not have a jeep nose. This one is a one off nose of they are offering a new nose.

Not sure why you would want to do this but I guess if you had an old Fiero and wanted a 2WD jeep well here you go.

Not sure why you would call this dangerous? Full space frame would be good for a roll over and the car has a lower center of gravity than a Jeep. To be honest it would be better off road than a real jeep if it had 4×4.

    1. What are you talking about? Every Jalapeno I’ve ever seen (which admittedly is only a handful) has had this front end. Even the one on the kits page on the official PISA website has this front end http://pisafierohq.com/rebody_kits/jalapeno/

  6. I wouldn’t do this to my yellow 88 Fiero, but i remembered when the post was on the internet a couple years ago, and thought honestly it would be cool to have a conversion like this. Again, not practical as its only a 2 seater, and even less luggage space, but cool nonetheless. I heard this conversion slows down the car drastic…

  7. Unless you have done much to the engine there is not much speed in the Fiero compared to most modern cars.

I drive my HHR SS daily and when I get in my Fiero 2M6 it feels so slow. Also the roof pillars feel so thin but I love the view including the T tops as the HHR is like a bunker.

Now if I had the 2.0 Turbo in the Fiero Hmmm?
