You can’t order a tougher Silverado than the Heavy Duty model equipped the 6.6 liter Duramax diesel engine and Allison transmission, a point we learned firsthand when we drove the truck last month. This tried-and-true combination can tow more than 10-tonnes and is for customers who have heavy duty workloads and need a heavy duty truck to match.
The powertrain combination is just one of the advantages the rugged Heavy Duty Silverado has over the regular full-size pickup. It also has an extremely tough fully-boxed steel frame, trailer sway control and hill-start assist, all things Chevrolet managed to squeeze in and briefly explain in the short 50-second video below. Scroll down to check it out and don’t forget to read our first-drive review of the 2015 Silverado HD for our real-world opinion of GM’s latest work horse.
