North American car enthusiasts have long cried out for the return of a car-truck hybrid like the Chevrolet El Camino. They almost got their wish when General Motors pulled the wraps off of the Pontiac G8 ST at the New York Auto Show in 2008, but the car was cancelled amidst GM’s restructuring. Now it seems like we’ll never see another vehicle like the El Camino in North America again, so some people have gone and taken things into their own hands.
We’re not sure whether the owner of this Buick “ST.5” truck wanted an El Camino, or simply had a working Buick Regal and a left over Chevrolet S10, but either way we’re impressed by his resourcefulness. The ‘Regamino’ was posted on the ‘Buick Find of the Day’ page on Facebook, where the poster states the car is still on the chassis from the Regal, so unlike an S10, it’s using a 3.8-liter V6 engine and a front-wheel drive layout.
It may not be the V8-powered, tire shredding super Ute that the lucky folks from The Land Down Under get, but we have to hand it to the owner of the Regamino for making this package work. He claims he’s put almost 40,000 miles on it since he finished the work, so it’s pretty reliable, too. Check out more photos here, and let us know what you think of this strange creation in the comments.

A 20th Century W-body Regal, minus everything past the B-pillar…
Oh, I wouldn’t want to be in a side-impact collision in that. Honestly, that’s what scared me each day I drove my Century… and I didn’t go door-deleting.
I have a 20th century Buick (a 1995 Regal) and it was involved in a crash with a older Ford Econoline Van. My Buick survived and was driveable (it was repaired in three days). The Ford Van had to be towed away.
If I had an S-10 body I could do the same and feel safe!
The 1997-2003 Grand Prix was always better than the Regal. .
I think this is awful. What an abortion.
America is the land of the “free to do whatever you want to do to your car”! I have seen worse, but if someone creates such a crazy vehicle, and it catches on, then we see the manufactures reproduce the idea and make money. So, keep those mashup coming!
