Own A Piece Of Art History With This 1998 Saturn ‘Art Car’: Craigslist Find

Different people have varying views and opinions on what counts as “art”. According to Meriam-Webster, art is “something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings.” Going by that definition, I think we can all agree that this 1998 Saturn S-Series Jalopnik found for sale on Craigslist in Miami is definitely not art. That didn’t stop the seller from listing it as “ART that is a car,” and tacking a $50,000 asking price onto it, though.

If there is one place on the internet that we would expect to see a Saturn with a missing roof panel, holes cut in the fender and dollar sign wheel covers with an asking price of fifty grand, it’s Craigslist. Still, the ad is almost definitely a joke. It starts off with the seller suggesting the car is perfect for impressing those around you:

“Wanna impress your highschool sweatheart at your twentieth year school reunion? Wanna surprise your kids with something OUTRAGEOUS! Or have you worked really hard lately and need to give yourself a BIG BONUS! This ART (that is a car) is for you, buddy!”

He then reveals who the magnificently talented artists behind this thought provoking and awe inspiring piece are.

“This ART (that is a car) was refurbished by artist Justin Long with assistance provided by Robert “Meatball, because I taste like a meatball” Lorie. Year of manufacture: the future. When you can buy this: today. $50,000 O.B.O. ! Don’t let it get away!!!!”

As long as the car comes with Robert “Meatball, because I taste like a meatball” Lorie’s signature on the dashboard, we’d say it’s absolutely worth it. We know you can’t resist putting in an offer on the world’s most valuable Saturn S-Series, so check out the ad on Craigslist Miami right here.

  2. Should have taken the picture in front of a zombie dystopia setting. MAYBE then it might get a taker for couple thousand.

That is what Hyundai did. Or was it Kia?

  3. I’m of the opinion that art is anything that moves you to make art; art provokes you to make art, it provokes you to act.

For this Saturn, I’m sittin’ still.

  4. I think I might have to spew after seeing this! The Saturn S-series isn’t the best looking car by a long shot, but this “artist” has made this example look even worse! Those on the front guard someone could’ve done with a rather large calibre rifle, for a start. The rest would be drills, saws and angle grinders. Also, the location of the exhaust (coming out from the bonnet with no mufflers attached) is also rather illegal, making the car undriveable on public roads.
