The next-generation Cadillac CTS-V will utilize the supercharged 6.2 liter LT4 V8 which debuted in the 2015 Corvette Z06. However according to a report from Autocar, the CTS-V won’t share horsepower and torque figures with the top of the range Vette.
The LT4 in the Cadillac CTS-V will be making somewhere in the realm of 600 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. That’s down from the Z06’s, 625 horsepower and 635 lb-ft of torque, but a large increase from the 558 horsepower the LSA V8 in the current generation CTS-V is producing.
The LT4 will be sending its power to the rear wheels through the smooth shifting 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission found in the Z06. Cadillac has remained tight lipped about the next-gen CTS-V, but it should launch by 2015, possibly after a debut at next year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Give it a 7 speed manual and the exact same power numbers as the corvette, GM needs to start showing equal love to their other cars and divisions.
with around 600hp that’s 40-50 hp over the m5 & e63, now with GM building amazing track ready cars, im sure there going to implement some amazing technology to the cts-v and blow the competition out of the water.
This is really getting me excited. The 2016 CTS-V will smoke the M5. Cadillac will be the king in another category again.
Over 600 HP you have to be kidding no one here ever considered that LOL!
I think we all knew this and the LT4 with a couple less ponies.
Now this is the car for an AWD option. It is in the right price segment and what better way to put the power down in a very light platform. Haldex could handle the power If GM really wants to do it.
I just drove a 2014 coupe and I can’t wait till this power hits the Alpha.
2015 CTS-V, 600hp, 600lb, with AWD.
Come now! Mt. St. Helens was equally as violent. Do we need to relive the eruption again? 😉
I looked over a black CTS Vsport this weekend @ Randall Cadillac in San Angelo TX. OMG – it’s really something. Huge wheel/tire combination looks especially appropriate. That dealer stocks a number of the 2014 CTS-V sedans and coupes from the previous edition. Apparently GM continues production of those models. Randall orders them fully loaded in various color combinations. I really like the all black, black wheels etc with the yellow caliphers. I am impressed the dealers stock the XTS Vsport in quantity both there and here in Midland/Odessa. I really, really enjoy my 2013 ATS Performance Edition 3.6. It’s very fast and very easy on gas.
Hello,
I’ve been looking at the post, my Dad bought a 2014 Cadillac CTS V8 560hp at the age of 80:-) and unfortunately he just passed away couple of weeks ago. My Mom wants to sell it of course she will need the money she is also 80. The car has less then 2000miles on it can you tell me what its worth and would you be interested in buying it:-) someone will be getting a pretty good deal if its fair price. This car is beautiful black also has the yellow calipers etc.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ooooooooooohh man i love how theyre saying “more than 560”, sorta being cunningly coy about it. Theyre being pretty general there and leaving ALOT of room for speculation since the current one is only 4 shy of that. I, as do many of you apparently, have a STRONG feeling its going to be 600. I honestly think it will be JUST over 600, perhaps 605-615. Even though some sources are saying it WONT have as much as the new Z06 i think it would make sense or could be a possibility for it to have the same numbers as the Z06 because even though it will be lighter then the current V it will still be a 4000lb car i believe, so its going to need alot of power both to get it moving to PERFORM ALONGSIDE as well as PERFORM HIGHER THAN its competition which are in the 560-590hp range. I also dont think that by it potentially having the same numbers as the Z06 that it would be stepping on the Z06’s toes because the Z06 is a high-performance 2 seater street-legal race car essentially, while the V will be a citystreet-centric racecar (more or less) but aimed toward people who are looking to carry more and be in more comfort/luxury. I basically think that if the next v DOES have the same power as the z06 that there shouldnt be any conflict there since its 2 different vehicles aimed at 2 different sort of people. As long as it has 600 or more i’m happy.
I do not understand why Cadillac keeps increasing the V-SERIES horsepower, for goodness sakes the existing V-SERIES 560 horsepower I think is way too much! Also with the coming C.A.F.E. minimum miles per gallon for passenger cars and trucks, Cadillac should be concentrating on getting the equivalent High Performance from a “Hybrid or Fuel Cell Drive Train” and not a Gas Guzzling V-8 !! Why does Cadillac think they have to have Luxury High Performance Cars ??
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY does Cadillac keep increasing the V-SERIES HORSEPOWER, For goodness sakes the existing V-SERIES HORSEPOWER is 560 HORSEPOWER and to me that is too excessive! Also with the new C.A.F.E. Minimum Miles Per Gallon for Passenger Cars and Trucks, Cadillac should be Engineering the Equivalent High Performance form either “Hybrid or Fuel Cell Drive Train” and not a Gas Guzzling V-8 Engine !! Why Does Cadillac think they always have to have Luxury High Performance to compete with BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz ??
“Why Does Cadillac think they always have to have Luxury High Performance to compete with BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz ??”
One word: Demand.
Hi-po luxury cars sell, and sells damn well to the few who want them. Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Lexus, Jaguar, Infiniti, and Volvo are all just as ‘guilty’ as Cadillac for satisfying the demand for such cars.
Of course, all of the above luxury automakers are taking a multi-tier approach to fuel-economy and green-conscious consumers. Not everyone is going to want or need 500hp, and those automakers know it. Diesels, battery-assisted hybrids, conventional hybrids, GDI’s, smaller displacement, EV’s, KERS, and even weight reduction are shoring up the luxury car buyers’ interest. They do for me, as I wouldn’t want CTS-V because it doesn’t meets my needs. The new 2.5 ATS, however, does meet my needs, I wouldn’t have it any other way, except for perhaps the ELR.
Besides, those who buy any hi-po luxury car from the above automakers likely has no qualms about paying a CAFE fee because of the exclusivity of the car itself. A penalty won’t scare them away, and since the hi-po cars are always a low-volume product, the demand for them will strengthen.
Who knows. An electric CTS-V would showcase GM’s technological might, and keep the consumers happy if it was just as amazing to drive as its ICE models. NONE of the above listed automakers are simply going to stop making hi-po luxury cars if gasoline becomes too expensive. They’ll adapt with hybrids or EV’s, and keep the fight going. Nobody wants to back out.
I would not want that guy complaining about more hp running Cadillac!
You put every drop of hp you can in the cts v!
I’ve been thinking about picking up a 2011 CTS-V for around $45k, but maybe I hold off a few years and pick one of these bad boys up.
-Manual Transmission is a must
-Improve the interior to be on par with the German luxury brands
-Keep the price under $70k
“-Manual Transmission is a must”
Manuals are a detriment as they make the car slower. DSG’s are superior and are the only transmission available.
“-Improve the interior to be on par with the German luxury brands”
It’s subjective, but considering that it’s the foremost interface between the driver and car, care and quality need to be paramount. Cadillac can always do better, and must as their competitors will always to their best.
“-Keep the price under $70k”
The M5 starts at $92,900
The E63 AMG 4Matic starts at $92,770
The RS6 starts at 105,000 EUR ($145,483 USD)
If you’re price-conscious, you’re not in the market for a performance luxury car.
“Manuals are a detriment as they make the car slower. DSG’s are superior and are the only transmission available.”
While you are correct that DSG’s are superior for all out acceleration, they are not as much fun. I’m not worried about drag racing others on the street, I want to have fun driving it.
Keep the price under $70k…?
What planet are you living on? Like “grawdaddy” mentions below why in gods name would Cadillac price their car $20-30k LESS then the competition when it will have MORE hp and same amenities/features as the Germans. maybe one option less but i dont care what anyone says about having more options…when you sit inside a CTS-V with 600HP..you sit down and buckle in and drive the shit out of it and enjoy driving it. you dont strap in to play tetris on your touchscreen for godssake.
Give me a call if you can or want to at 740-818-5982 I would like to talked to you about a 2014 cts-v that my father bought, thanks
Improve interior? It has one of the best interior now
Disappointing numbers…will this even match the E63? 3.6 60 and 11.6 ish 1/4?
Come on GM the caddy needs AWD! It’s not gonna cut it! I bet you BMW will Add it on the next Gen!
Please Please Please put the 7 speed manual in it. I want a Corvette with 4 doors.
