LS1-Powered Lamborghini Jalpa TacklesThe Drag Strip: Video

If you have ever been to a drag racing event, you know what will most likely turn up every time. There will be the usual variety of Camaros, Mustangs, Trans-Ams and the like. But every now and then someone shows up to the drag strip with something truly unique, like this LS1-powered 1988 Lamborghini Jalpa.

The owner of this car, Nick Bolonis, swapped out the Jalpa’s stock 3.5 liter V8 engine in favor of something a little more..muscly. A 5.7 liter LS1 V8 complete with a Magnusson blower was put in its place, resulting in an earth-shaking 620 horsepower, which are all being sent through the transaxle transmission from a Toyota.

Nick headed out to Calder Park Raceway in Australia to see what his franken-Lambo can really do. His best run was a 10.6 at 130 mph, which as Road and Track points out, is faster than a Lamborghini Aventador. Label us impressed.

Sam loves to write and has a passion for auto racing, karting and performance driving of all types.
