Is This How Fellow NASCAR Drivers Really Feel About Danica Patrick?: Video

Team Chevrolet NASCAR driver Danica Patrick seems to be the media favorite of NASCAR, despite frequently running near the back of the pack. Danica is all over advertisements, television and billboards promoting her sponsors and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. But what do her fellow drivers think of her?

One NASCAR fan put together this video clip, which features radio transmissions between drivers and their pit crew talking about Danica’s driving abilities in the No.10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS.  It seems like a couple of the drivers have just about had it with Danica, but their anger could just be fuelled by heat of the moment adrenaline. Either way, it seems like some drivers on the grid are a little frustrated with the famous female driver.

Sam loves to write and has a passion for auto racing, karting and performance driving of all types.

  1. The fact is she is in over her head on most tracks. It has nothing to do with her being a female but it does have to do with her lack of experience in cars with little down force. She is far from the first Indy driver to move to NASCAR and fail. The ones who make it are all ex Dirt drivers that have car control skills the down force drivers never get.

She needed to go to the late model or truck series and drive a lot of short tracks then move up to Nationwide and then Cup if she proved herself.

Most of NASCAR drivers come from sprints and short tracks for a reason as they had to learn to drive at the limit with no grip.

Once the sponsore tire of her she will be gone.

Remember the great Indy driver Dario failed in NASCAR as it was just not his type of car.

  2. Some experience in V8 Supercars development series might help…. but she will have to get used to turning in both directions lol

  3. They can make the same montage out of any other driver in the league. You can say the same for Joey Logano, Kyle and Kurt Busch….Very few drivers have been able to make the transition from open wheels to Nascar and be successful .

  4. The only drivers in the cup series that are worried about Danica are the ones having to race against her in the back of the field. I’m sure the top10 or so are concerned about winning to get in the chase.

  5. As a woman, it’s excruciating and impossible to break into traditional men’s roles (NASCAR driver, priest, computer programmer, talkshow host, US President) without being threatened dissed, ignored, ganged-up on, harassed or bullied by threatened, unapologetically sexist, or pathologically misogynous men. Not until the woman wins so much that her detractors risk looking like losers for their behavior, does this change. Through it all, the woman must remain focused, fearless, unintimidated, and determined. Often our lives are threatened. Tell me we don’t have balls. Tell me we don’t have skill. Tell me we don’t know what we’re doing. Go ahead. We’ve heard it all our lives, you’re not going to make much impact. Show us a woman who prevails in spite of all this, like Hillary Clinton, Ellen Degeneres, Diane Sawyer, Sonia Gandhi, Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling, Sheryl Sandberg, Melinda Gates, Jane Addams, Corazon Aquino, Julia Child, Marie Curie, Aretha Franklin…, then you’ll make an impact. May women prevail in NASCAR and every area that they aspire to participate, in every passion they choose to pursue – may they bring balance and healing to the world. And this isn’t just for gals. I welcome guys in the traditional female roles too. Everyone is free to let their spirit soar! Pursuit of happiness and all that. Those of you who don’t like it should check yourselves, because you’re contributing to the problem instead of its solution. Of course, nobody actually replies unless they’re too rabid to listen, or already agree, so I’ve had this nice conversation with myself today. Rock on.

    1. every woman you mentioned has succeeded in a ‘non athletic’ field where jabbering or style rules. Try sitting in a race car going 170 for 3 hours going in and out…..and don’t forget knowing mechanics. Most of these guys can tear down an engine or relay to the pits how to make adjustments……not her she just says the car isn’t handling right or it’s too tight ….

  6. Today when it comes to getting a opportunity to race on a top team Danica has a prime opportunity few men would ever get.

With that said all she has to do is be consistent to be successful. As of this point she has not done this and the only reason she is still there is her notoriety and sponsor money.

The reality is if she were male odds are she would never got the ride and odds are she would have been let go based on last years performance.

I know it is not popular with some but the truth is in today’s racing it is all about marketing, competing for a title and winning.

The fact is she has the car and team but it is up to her to compete and win.
If she fails it will be her performance.

Drivers like the Force sisters and other women have proven winning matters and not your sex.

To be honest Shawna Robinson was a better driver but she never had the to prove herself. Many drivers today will back that up .

The reality is even in Indy Danica only has one more win than anyone on this web site. If she wants to make finish in the to ten in points not the top 30.

I think she would be best In IMSA as the cars there are more what she learned do drive. Even F1 drivers struggle to drive cup cars as unlike in the past they are just a whole different deal. If it were easy we all would be doing it.

I have driven stock cars and it is like driving insanely fast on ice. Sliding around at 120 mph is just not easy for drivers used to being held to the ground with massive down force.

The future for Danica is in her hands and running better will solve it but till then she is just another struggling driver.

  7. Danica is a hazard on the track for every driver in every race. With her dismal driving skills, she is fully capable of taking out any car on the track that is close to. She has also demonstrated repeatedly that she is more than willing to deliberately attempt to wreck any other driver she gets angry or frustrated with. Eventually she is going to seriously hurt someone.

  8. From what I hear….you could make a video for every other driver just like this and a lot are even worse…made by a Danica hater I would guess…lets just make all these stories fair and balanced.

  9. The problem with her is the same as it is for many men drivers. The marketing people take president over the actual skill of the driver in some cases.

Lets face it there are some drivers in many top racing series that should not be there and only got there due to their looks and market ability factors. Sure they have some driving skills but not always a top 10 driving skill.

We have seen it in NASCAR, F1 and Indy Car. How often has Honda stuck a team with a Japanese driver that was basically a rolling chicane on the track in Indy and F1.

Lets face it there are some really skilled drivers with out rides because people did not give them a chance or better yet sponsors give them a chance because they were not polished or marketable. If this had happened in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s we would never have gotten drivers like Foyt, Pierson, Earnhardt, Turner and many others. Even Tony Stewart has to learn to become marketable to keep in a ride and he is one of today best drivers out there.

Again some hate to hear it but Danica has it all right now and all she has to do is be a constant top ten driver. Her future is in her hands and skill. She either moves up or she get moves aside in a couple years just as any other top 30 driver ends up doing. Just because she is a woman does not excuse her for her on track performance. She is much like how Dale Jr was going to Hendrick he is on a team with that can make a winner but it is up to him to get the job done. He was a proven winner coming over so he even had added pressure. He is finally showing he can do it. Now Danica is in a Hendrick chassis and has an Hendrick engine just as Jimmy Johnson has won all his championships in. She has the drivers like Tony and Mark Martin teaching her what she needed to learn in the truck series and Nationwide series before she moved up.

Few drivers male of female can get into cup and win right off. Often if they do it is a fluke. I hate to say it but she set herself up for a difficult haul as the spot light was on her and she has a lot to learn. She may one day get it but to this point she has not shown much yet.

The fact is this has nothing about being a man or woman it is about performance. She is no different than the other guys back in 20-42 place. You either perform or you get the boot when they get tired of you. No one gets a free ride forever.

I am a Dale Jr fan and I even was getting worried with his performance as how long will people pay to put their name on his car with the way he was performing. The Earnhardt name helps but it still comes down to winning and competing for a title. I do not even expect him to get a free ride so why should anyone else.

  10. Danica Patrick has been hyped as a great driver but has not gotten good results, despite having excellent equipment and support personnel. Most of her core fan base is with people who know little or nothing about auto racing. She represents the triumph of image over reality, and she presents a hazard to other participants in a very dangerous activity.

  11. Only reason Danica has a ride for Stewart/Haas is due to her looks and sponsorship with Go Daddy. She is a average driver at best. Her only chance of winning are the Crap shoot races like Restrictered plate races or Small track like Bristol or Martensville. And Also there are better female racecar drivers who would do alot better in the cup series than Danica, like Jennifer Jo Cobb, Johanna Long, Both are better than Danica. If Danica wasnt a model for Go Daddy, than she wouldnt be racing in Nascar. Dont get me wrong though, I like Danica, but she wont succeed like most of her fans would like to think.
She is highly overpaid, She has a selfishly and cocky attitude on track. She thinks that every accident she is in, that its not her fault but the other drivers. And knowing that she is a female and that Men cant hit women? well she better becareful because there are alot of racers who wouldnt hessitate to snap on her if that were the case. She is struggles too much when under pressure. She has the top of the line equiptment, so there is no excuse there. She is just there for publicity. I as well as most people know that Danica wont win a race unless she is leading and gets lucky and it Rains to end the race.
She needs more training on dirt tracks, and she needs to stop her whining after she causes another accident and trys to blame everyone else. I know alot of people wont like what I said but its my opinion based on the facts.
