General Motors has announced the appointment of Niharika Taskar Ramdev as GM vice president, Finance and Treasurer, effective on April 1. Prior to this position, Ramdev was chief financial officer for GM’s Global Purchasing and Supply Chain operation, a position she held since August of 2011.
Ramdev, 44, joined GM in 1996 and has held a variety of leadership roles within the company including assistant treasurer from 2008-2011 and regional treasurer for GM International Operations from 2006 to 2008.
“Niharika is an accomplished leader who brings substantial treasury and operational experience to this role,” Chuck Stevens, GM executive vice president and chief financial officer said in a statement. “Her primary focus will be on maintaining our fortress balance sheet, achieving investment grade credit ratings and developing a sustainable capital allocation strategy.”
She will replace Jim Davlin in the position, who left in order to pursue other opportunities. Ramdev will report to Stevens and will lead GM’s global treasury operations, including capital planning, capital market activities and worldwide banking. She will also participate in business development, risk management and investor relations.
