Arash AF8: British Engineering With An American Heart: Geneva 2014

Finally, after silhouette teasers and a month of suspense, British boutique car manufacturer Arash has released its AF8 supercar in Geneva. Yet as bonkers as it looks, its unfortunately shadowed by today’s hybrid hypercar hoopla stemming from the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Ferrari’s LaFerrari. Instead, we have a raw, Spartan, no-frills machine with a Chevrolet Small Block V8 under its bonnet that pays homage to purist drivers all over the world.

Arash is reporting that the AF8 can accelerate from 0-60 in approximately 3.5 seconds—and its top speed should eclipse the 200 mph barrier. This is courtesy of the mid-mounted 7.0L LS7 V8 tuned to 550 horsepower, sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed transmission.

Keeping things in check is a five-stage traction control system. There’s also a heated windshield and carbon-fiber reinforced body panels. Though if you want one, just 36 examples of the AF8 are scheduled to be produced, each setting a buyer back approximately $276,500 US dollars (or £165,000) — a hefty undercut to the MSRP of the Noble M600.

We await to see how the market reacts.
