As an Australian citizen, I am very familiar with the art of the burnout. In fact, I know many proud Aussies who feel nobody can do it better. But this isn’t about a competition, but rather about the rolling burnout, captured on video, performed by the Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) Corvette Stingray, aka the HPE700.
The tuned Stingray’s raspy 6.2-liter LT1 V8 is powered by not one, but two turbochargers (a supercharger is available as well), with the setup pumping out 708 horsepower. And while the previous HPE600 was known for eclipsing the 200 MPH barrier, the HPE700 displays something rather different in the short clip — a rolling burnout. A smooth stream of smoke emitted from the rear tires coupled with the high-pitch squeals of the twin-turbochargers prove the real hero.
