Triple-Turbo Cummins Ram Shames A Camaro ZL1 At The Drag Strip: Video

There is more than one reason you might want to buy a diesel pickup truck. For towing and hauling, there is almost no substitute for a torque-rich oil burner. And for fuel economy and engine longevity, the diesel is once again hard to beat. But there is one more thing diesels are good at: drag racing.

Take the Cummins Ram in the video below for example. Most onlookers would assume the 580 horsepower Camaro ZL1 would eat the Ram alive in the quarter mile, but they’d be wrong. The Ram doesn’t just beat the Camaro, it walks all over it, posting a scant 10-second quarter mile time at 130 mph. Not bad for a 7000 lb pickup truck.

It’s really no surprise that a heavily modified Ram would beat a mostly stock Camaro, but it’s interesting to see just how fast the Ram is in comparison to the ZL1, a car which we know is no slouch. Check out the video just below.
