Thieves have stolen the wheels and tires off of 22 different vehicles at DeMontrond Chevrolet in Texas City, Texas.
The thefts happened sometime between when the dealership closed on Saturday night and opened on Sunday morning. Sgt David Fairchild told KHOU that the suspects cut the locks on the gate and snipped the wires to the light poles before stealing the wheels and leaving the cars on wooden blocks.
Local news is reporting that some of the vehicles fell off the wooden blocks and have sustained frame damage. A damage estimate for the incident has not been released.
Local police are checking security cameras and are asking anyone who drove by and noticed anything suspicious to contact authorities.

Sounds like Demondtron Texas City isn’t doing as much business as they had hoped for. Maybe the insurance money they will collect will keep them in the green for another few months until they get a boost in sales from the free press they’re getting. It should be a pretty easy case to solve. Look in the warehouse down the street that the manager rented recently, or maybe in the wheel and tire store that one of their employees brother in law owns. Who knows maybe nothing really got stolen and this is a sad plot to get some free air time and to wrangle some community support($$$)…
I give this story a D – . At least post pictures that have the cars sitting on wooden blocks, like the story reads, not jack stands.
Magnum, you are an a##. The dealer is a victim of a crime here. Each vehicle probably has a deductible of $1000 or more, and they now have 22 vehicles worth close to a million dollars that are unsaleable until wheels and tires can be found, mounted, balanced, and installed on all of them AFTER they get them off the ground. And that’s besides repairing those that sustained undercarriage and body damage, that then needs to be disclosed to the future buyers of these vehicles. That would be one dumba## plan, and it shows your intelligence that you suggested it.
Must not have had McGard wheel locks on them…? Takes longer than 2 min to get those off. Especially the locks with the spinning shroud that meets European Thatchem Theft requirements. Those are real tough. The Dodge Ram has them and we needed a torch when we lost the key. That wasn’t a fun day.
