“The New Us,” Starring The 2014 Chevrolet Traverse: Ad Break

They are the ones you trust, the ones you can tell anything to, and the ones who will always be there with a shoulder to lean on when you need it most. They are your family, and no matter how different they may be from your neighbours, or any other family, the truth is we are all very similar in the end.

Chevrolet’s ad for the 2014 Traverse uses ethnically and culturally diverse families to deliver that exact message. “While what it means to be a family hasn’t changed, what a family looks like has, this is the new us,” the voiceover states.

The ad continues a trend of diversity for Chevrolet’s #TheNew ad campaign, which is currently running during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. This particular ad has garnered much attention in the media due to its depiction of a gay couple to represent changing modern values. Check it out just below and tell us what you think of this different advertising approach from Chevrolet in the comments.

  1. I love these Lambda’s so much! I was just in my aunts Enclave and boy, was that a beautiful vehicle! I however, do not like the 3.6L in it and would rather see a 4.3L V6 (VVT, SIDI, AFM and iVVL) with 335HP and 310FT-LBS along with an 8-Speed Auto (which shouldn’t have a problem seeing 28-29mpg on the highway). Also, I think these Lambda’s should go onto the Super Epsilon platform for less platforms and cheaper costs.

  2. This ad done in poor taste is going cost Chevrolet and GM business. I dont like the idea that they are promoting the gay life style. Leave this crap out and sell the vehicle for its merits. This political cow towing to the current administration is going to cost them sales. If they continue I for one will go elsewhere. We our current lease is up in a few months, so if GM continues down this path, they wont see my money.

    1. Agree. I have bought plenty of GM products. Drive a Yukon and wife has an Acadia now …., but with GMC promoting Gay and Inter racial marriage, I will not purchase any more ….., what is GM thinking? …., why is it necessary ?

      1. Not trying to be rude, but are you really going to be such a callous bigot? I am most certainly not perfect, but you are wrong on so many levels. Believe it or not, gay people are just like you and me and deserve the same respect as everyone else. Don’t hate them for who they want to be with. I have gay and lesbian friends who’ve helped me through my times of struggle and I probably wouldn’t be here without them. Since you’re from the south, I am guessing you are Christian which leads me to believe that you have never read The Bible as it clearly states “Hate the sin, not the sinner”. Again, not trying to start a fight as I’ve been down that road before and do not want to go there again. I am not telling you to support LGBT, but please consider these facts next time you want to show extreme disrespect to an innocent person. The same goes for you too Steve. .

What is wrong with interracial marriage? We love who we love, get over it. .
