More spy photos of the upcoming Baojun SUV have surfaced on Car News China. The budget brand is currently developing three new models, this SUV, the 610 hatchback and a new MPV-style vehicle.
Previous reports suggested the new SUV would be powered by 1.8 liter and 1.5 liter engines. However, Car News China is now saying the SUV will receive new 1.4 liter and 1.5 liter turbocharged mills after the 1.8 liter engine was dropped for being too heavy. The new powerplants will reportedly contribute to a higher-than-expected base price of around 110, 000 yuan (USD $18, 131).
The spy photos don’t reveal much more than what was seen in the previous shots. Much of the exterior is still hidden underneath what looks to be electrical tape, though the body lines aren’t difficult to make out. We now also get a second look at the interior, including new shots of the back seats.
A concept of the new Baojun SUV is expected to bow at the Beijing Motor Show in April, with the production model arriving at Chinese dealerships later this year.

I wish GM would get these cars into the US. Chinese cars are coming, GM might as well be first as opposed to playing defense.
Boajan would bee like old Plymouth, could sell some discontinued Chevy and Buick products like the outgoing Cruze, maybe reworked a reworked W body Impala.
It would be great for the rental market.
