Joe Biden Really, Really Loves The 2015 Corvette Z06

When Joe Biden was in Detroit last month during the North American International Auto Show to discuss the positive turnaround of the U.S. Auto Industry, he took it as an opportunity to praise the 2015 Corvette Z06. It seems that the Vice President just can’t keep his mind off the ‘Big Nasty’, as he praised the latest high performance ‘Vette again during a United Auto Workers Conference in Washington yesterday.

“Everyone wants to know whether or not I’m going to run for president,” Biden said. “There’s a lot of reasons to run for president, but there’s one overwhelming reason not to run for president. I’d like to get that Z06 with 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. 3.4 seconds! You tach that sucker up to six grand and this comes out of the hole like a bullet, man.”

Yes. That is an actual quote from the Vice President that you just read. Biden is a bona fide gearhead and has complained in the past about the secret service not letting him drive his 1967 Corvette for security reasons. One day, he got tired of not driving it and did a burnout down his driveway at his home in Delaware.

“I still have my ’67 Corvette. By the way, my grown sons had it rebuilt for me, and it cost seven times the sticker price, rebuilt. But it’s a quarter horse, man. That’s all it is, is a quarter horse,” Biden said.

If Biden ends his political career anytime soon, it sounds like his ’67 ‘Vette might get a new Z06-badged stable mate.

  1. I know many people who would buy one and give it to him if he won’t run. Some of them are even Democrats.

It would be fun to see him get one and then try to explain to all his green supporters why he has it.

  2. Although not by much, the new Z06 is greener than the old one. It weighs less, it can shut off 4 cylinders, and the engine is physically smaller. 😉

Not every “greenie” has a neck beard and is a vegan.

And stop on the claiming it is cleaner as the folks who really worry about this would rather us all be walking everywhere. LOL!

Remember these the same folks who attacked a Hummer H2 as a monster not even considering it was really a Tahoe under the skin.

  6. But scott, the new Z06 is greener than the old Z06 for the reasons I’ve already stated that. And walking is good for you and the environment, as is any form of physical exercise.

I’ve also referred to the new Z06 as the “blood-thirsty, axe-murdering, yellow-painted maniac” and I stand by those words as terms of endearment.

I hope you’re not suggesting that I can’t “hug trees” and love the new Z06 at the same time.

  7. You are either with us or against us.

The same folks you identifying with are the same that have become unreasonable and may end the v8 Vette as we know it.

With that kind of attitude, you’re being as unreasonable as mr. ritter. Thankfully, the world can’t be as cut and dry as that.

I’ve not said anything about the fate of V8 engine; this is about the Corvette. I would rather the Corvette live onward for as long as possible irrespective of how it’s powered. It would show that the Corvette is adaptable to demands and can show a lengthy history of satisfying those demands both on and off the track.

“The same folks you identifying with”? Who, exactly? And don’t presuppose things, scott, especially if you’re going to assume I wear burlap, eat granola, and strum a mandolin in the woods on the weekend.

I genuinely do care about the environment and the Z06. It’s not impossible to do so, and they are not mutually exclusive.

  8. Scott gets a thumbs up from me 99% of the time, but I certainly agree with Grawdaddy on this one. I’m certainly left leaning and very environmentally friendly, but I also own an ’04 Z06. Given that I only put about 4k/year on the thing, my “carbon footprint” is certainly lower than someone driving a Prius 15 thousand miles every year. Of course my other ride is a 2012 Cruze Eco, and I plan on going plug in electric for my next “regular” car.

Anyway, excellent discussion all around, even with the differences of opinion.

  9. The issue here is if you play far green or far anti green you are playing with extreme people here. The people really forcing this green agenda often are radicals that would take your ICE away in 5 seconds. On the counter you have the other brand that wants to do nothing and when there are some reasonable things that could be done.

Then there are those pretty much as I am that want both to work together and come to reasonable solutions that will be best for all as a whole.

I really should not say you are with us or against us but the truth is if you pay for either extreme that is how it is seen by them. Note I am in the middle.

Here is where I am. I am for reasonable rules to make things better but I also do not buy into the global warming Green industry that has been created and lining the pockets of the sky is falling people like Al Gore and others.

I would recommend reading up on people like Maurice Strong and others who created Global warming and just see just how they have profited and are begging for more government funds to line their pockets.

I do not deny there is global weather change as the earth has been in flux from the start and has gone from warm to cold to warm and cold for a very long time.

Today we have a group of people who are taking a look short time of weather and have us all being doomed 50 years from now but they can predict the weather accurately more than 3 days ahead unless you live in San Diego.

But we have people lying about the Keystone pipeline that would have a major effect on our economy. We also have a president who wants to make trucks more green and save people $250 a year when the changes he proposes will cause the increases in the price of a car to eat up all the savings you would have unless you keep the vehicle for a very long time.

The truth is most people want to be responsible for the environment but reasonably balanced to protect the environment but while also protecting out industry and economy.

Right now they are talking on my TV now about killing Coal Electric plants but there is no need for this drastic action.

This is something that needs a balanced approach but right now that is what most special interest groups on both sides are not working that way.

The reality is global warming theory has become an industry with many academics, scientist and politicians as they are all profiting by it greatly. Many will support and say anything to protect their income just as many in industry will do to protect it.

The bottom line is we are in for hard times if some get their way. A it is now it will be difficult to meet the CAFE for 2025 and there are many already talking about raising it more already.

The reality is the earth reclaims it self a lot faster than many will want you to believe. Just look at Mt St Helens as they said it was going to be a waste land for centuries. Today it has recovered and really thriving.

Chernobyl was claimed that no one could go near it for centuries but today while not fully recovered the areas is now safe for visits and the wild life has returned and is safely thriving again. Today they take tours there where the greatest danger is the abandon building may fall on you. It is not suited to move back in yet but originally they said that no one would be able to go in let along take tours to the plant or near by city.

Anyways my point is this is not a world of absolutes and is a world of a lot of lies on both sides.

The earth is a lot tougher than many of the profit seeking fear mongers want you to believe.

While the new Z06 is better there are many pushing this agenda that still see it and any ICE engine as a demon that needs to be destroyed. The moral here is to be responsible but be careful who you align yourself with as they may just be the one who picks you clean.

I for one could care less if the Vette has a TT V6 as long as it is fast. But it is in the best interest to keep the V8 in the car as long as possible. The car was built on and identified as a V8 car for so long it has to retain this hallmark as long as possible. Just as Ferrari offers a group of V8 engines now they work very hard to retain the V12 while so many others have given up on it because they are identified with that.

As it is the V8 in it will become even more special as it will vanish from so many other cars as it already has.

Never said you were wearing a sack but you speak of two extremes and I do agree the new car is more efficient but be honest it is not built to be the poster car for the environmentally friendly. It was built to meet government standard at a ever increasing cost.

Also the new car is not lighter.

While I do not want to see blatant harm come to the environment I will never identify myself as a Environmentalist as there is too much baggage with that one.
