C3 Corvette Hit By Drunk Driver In Arizona

A white C3 Corvette was left in rough shape after it was clipped by a pickup truck while crossing through an intersection in Tempe, Arizona last Monday.

The driver of the pickup, Jose Arturo Soria-Gonzales, fled the scene on foot but was promptly apprehended by the Tempe PD.

The Corvette, which looks like it was in rather good shape prior to the accident, had the entire front fascia nearly ripped off and the front right wheel left hanging sideways.

The two occupants of the Corvette suffered minor injuries from the accident, which occurred just after midnight at the intersection of University Drive and Evergreen Road.

Soria-Gonzales was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an injury collision. In a perfect world, he would also be charged with the assault of a nice classic Corvette.

  1. Although abismally low on power and performance, the 1980-82 Corvettes are one of my favorites in terms of just all around good looks. (especially the 1982 collector’s addition!)

It Sucks to see this happen to any old car, but at least the damage appears to be easilly repairable.

Hopefully it’ll be rebuilt and back on the road soon.

  2. As long as the frame isn’t twisted, looks the the main impact was right at the wheel/shock mount, and that could be terrible depending on the speed of the truck…

I hope we get an update on this Vette soon

  4. The drunk driver of the pickup drove across all the lanes to turn left, hit head on then flipped over us and ended up to the right of us in the neighborhood entrance. 4 or 5 men staggered out of the truck and ran. Leaving my mother and I in bad shape. The driver of the truck was an illegal alien who was borrowing his family members vehicle. My mother suffered head injury and I have lasting damage to my spine. So to say the injuries were minor is wrong, and to say he merely clipped us is an understatement. The vehicle was deemed totalled which was an injustice because I’m fairly certain it was auctioned off quickly after.
