Vice President Joe Biden Praises U.S. Automakers, 2015 Corvette Z06

Vice President Joe Biden was in Detroit this week at the 2014 North American International Auto Show to speak about the positive turnaround of the U.S. auto industry. But that didn’t stop VP Biden from getting a couple of words in edgewise about his personal rides, and those he enjoyed the most at the show.

VP Biden revealed to the audience that he owns a 1967 Corvette Stingray, which his father bought him as a wedding present. Even though the secret service doesn’t let him drive the car for security reasons, that doesn’t stop him from doing a burnout in his driveway every now and then.

“Either get in the passenger seat with me or shoot me, because I’m moving,” Biden told his secret service agent before laying some long black lines on down the driveway at his home in Delaware.

Biden is a Corvette guy, it would appear, as he was keen to check out the 2015 Corvette Z06. GM’s new CEO, Mary Barra, joined Biden in the passenger seat while the VP pored over the new 625 horsepower ‘Vette.

According to the Wall Street Journal, VP Biden also enjoyed checking out the Cadillac ATS and the new, aluminium bodied Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Sam loves to write and has a passion for auto racing, karting and performance driving of all types.

  1. Although I strongly disagree with his political views, I think it is very good that we have someone in his position who is complimenting our auto industry. I hope more U.S. Citizens will start buying from their own country again! However, it’s already happening as Ford was The United States bestselling automotive brand for 2013!

  2. If I am building a car, any car, I am not looking for, or would want the endorsement of someone with such a history of verbal blunders and inaccuracies. This public figure has next to zero credibility with anyone not in lockstep with his agenda, political or otherwise. Is it not ironic that this guy praises the company for building a car that he hates to see in production, as it goes everything that an environmentalist would want built. It is not “green” enough. What no Corvette hybrid, or all electric model? Kill it, kill it now before it destroys everything that we (the anti business, anti car, heck anti human coalition) have worked so hard for and envision the world to be.

  3. I wouldn’t have a problem with an EV Corvette.

Battery tech is there yet, but when it is, I wouldn’t want to see the Corvette die because people were unwilling to accept something better for the long-term.

  4. I just wish Washington would leave them be. Both sides have played a game of BS with the auto makers.

Who ever was in charge was going to bail them out and who was not in office would have opposed.

If joe was so concerned he would be less look at what we did and would work more with the makers on a more realistic CAFE. 54 mpg is going to cost the auto mfg billion a place you in a expensive little crap box.

As for GM they are already tying to lose the government motor name some idiot have tagged them with. Photo’s of old just call me Joe are not what GM needs right now.

I am just tired of GM being a political football by both sides.

I did think we should have a caption contest here on what joe really said in the car.
