Rick Hendrick gets to add the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 No. 001 Â to his stable of GM collectibles, after shelling out a $650,000 winning bid on the car during the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction over the past weekend. Mind you, the MSRP on the Camaro of Camaros is $75,000.
In case you need to be reminded of the hardware, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 comes equipped with a 7.0L LS7 V8 pushing 505 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque, equipped only to a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission. The output isn’t nearly as impressive as the cornering and stopping power of the Z/28, with a 1.08G rated cornering ability, and an nose-bleeding 1.5G deceleration. This is made possible from the help of the DSSV dampers, and 305 Pirelli Trofeo R tires on all four corners that are nearly as wide as they are tall.
All proceeds go towards Cornerstone Schools, and Hendrick will get to choose the color that the 2014 Z/28 will be. Though it won’t be the matte white that made its debut with the car, because that color is not intended for production.
