Opel Adam Wins Readers Choice Award In Germany

The readers of one of Germany’s leading automotive publications, Auto Motor und Sport, have voted the Opel Adam as their favorite car in the minicar segment. The Adam walked away with 24.2 percent of the votes in the category, narrowly edging out the Volkswagen Up! (23.9 percent) and the Mini Cooper (16.6 percent).

“We at Opel are especially delighted with this prize, because a large number of well-informed readers voted for our Adam. This victory over strong competitors shows that we hit the mark with our individualization champion,” said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann at the awards ceremony in Stuttgart. “Since its launch, we have received over 62,000 orders. This is a success story that is just beginning. On behalf of Opel, I would like to thank all the Auto Motor und Sport readers- obviously you are real car aficionados.”

According to the magazine’s publisher, exactly 115,285 readers participated in the voting for the award. They voted in ten categories, choosing from a total of 384 vehicles from both domestic and import manufacturers.

  1. The Opel Adam should be offered for sale in the U.S. and all its territories, because most car buyers live in cities, and buy minicars to save gas and parking space. Yet most of those minicars are Asian and European. The only GM produced minicar is the Chevy Spark and it is a weak vehicle. If GM wants to save Opel, then the introduction of the Adam will save Opel, and displace all those other imports.

  2. It is a sharp little car. Give it to Buick.
