Opel Adam Cabrio Spied During Testing

The impending Opel Adam Cabrio has been spotted during testing for the first time by Auto Evolution. The photos are supporting evidence to a report we heard back in July of last year, which indicated a topless version of Opel’s stylish city car had been given the green light for production.

Much like the Fiat 500c, the only convertible part of the car is the fabric roof, which retracts into the rear hatch. The doors, rear windscreen and door pillars remain intact when the roof is retracted.

The Opel Adam Cabrio could make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, where the fixed roof version of the car was unveiled two years earlier.

  1. Another nonconvertible convertible. I really don’t get these. I see them as coupes with really huge moonroofs.

  2. This looks more like the whole roof plus the A and C pillars contiguously covered with something with a textile looking texture. Quite different from this FIAT 500c with a textile roof.

Not a retractable roof, which would have a clear demarcation line between outer roof frame and the actual moveable textile roof.

And the fotographer has, unfortunately, covered nearly all of the licence plate, except the nationality sign. He or she should have left also the letters indicating the county, in which case the letters “GG” for “Kreis Groß-Gerau” would have hinted an actual Opel company registered car.

  3. As I understand it, small convertibles need some physical structure to protect the occupants from a roll over, so they cannot eliminate the B and C pillars , unless they put in a new roll bar.

  4. Can it please become a Buick??
