The first spy shots of the all-new Chevrolet Sail sedan have emerged on Car News China. Set to go on sale later this year, presumably for the 2015 model year, the new Sail will be larger and make a move upmarket than the outgoing model. That will reportedly make room for a new entry-level sedan from Chevrolet positioned below the Sail.
Judging by the spy photos, the new Sail appears to be larger than the current model, with an extended rear door and larger back end. It’s also believed that the next-gen Sail will ditch the 1.2-liter (86 horsepower) and 1.4-liter (102 horsepower) engines offered in the outgoing model in favor of a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder making 110 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque.
Originally introduced in 2010, the current Sail is built in China by GM’s Chinese joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling. It received a few cosmetic revisions in 2012.
