Shawn Ryan is the Vehicle Architect of the 2015 GMC Canyon. In the video below, he explains that in designing the Canyon, the goal was to combine innovation and efficiency into one attractive package. The result is that the Canyon has both… in spades.
According to Mr. Ryan, the 2015 Canyon stands out from other midsize pickup trucks. For starters, it’s more efficient, but still has that full-size truck DNA (which is probably due to its K2-derived underpinnings). The Canyon also incorporates many segment firsts, including available high-tech safety features (like Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning), unique new methods to store things in the bed, DuraLife brake rotors, corner-step rear bumper, EZ Lift-and-Lower lift tailgate, and projector beam headlights, which truly add a nice touch.
At the end of the day, Mr. Ryan is proud to bring all of those features together in one package, and feels that customers will be impressed. Because being a GMC means being Professional Grade — in other words, a touch above everything else. Take it away, Shawn:

I’m Really Crazy Diggin this Truck……Denali Crew with Sunroof, All Wheel Drive, Diesel and HID’s…….Sign me the F–k Up Now!! 😉
I’m buying one no doubt. The only risk I stand is an ATS, sure very different vehicles, but that’s about the only thing that can sway me away, and in that case I would have to buy a beater truck too. So likely won’t be buying an ATS.
Without seeing a configurator or even complete options/packages list, this is what I’m thinking:
Canyon – Black or Cyber Grey, maybe Bronze or one of the reds, will need to see in person at dealer
4×4 with Autotrac
Crew Cab 5ft box
3.6 V6
Leather – depending on what else that upgrade includes (i.e price)
Spray bed liner, depending on price I’d just go LineX and have them do wheel wells too
My own add ons:
3″ suspension lift and level kit
1″ spacers
6000k HID lows
White LED fogs
white LED interior light. and exterior accessory lighting (license plate light, reverse light, parking light).
tri-fold hard tonneau
in bed spare tire mount
blackout (plastidip) most of the chome – grill bezel (unless it is already body matched), front bumper gauge, rear bumper
CAI – probs Volant with Donaldson filter
Then my boat goes out the back.
@jbisrite there is no AWD, and I kind of doubt if there is a Denali trim (probably) that it will get the 2.8 oil burner. It will likely be exclusively the 3.6 with 8spd.
Some customers would definitely consider the 2.8 oil burner as a premium engine along with the 3.6. Rather folks actually end up purchasing the Duramax engine is only guessing at this point. It would seem, as far as interest is concerned, the baby diesel is the”top”engine.
The first two post are hoping for premium lights for their wish list. How about led cab(roof) lights? Subtle being key. Perhaps a diesel only option. Just thinking out loud…
