Mark Reuss Named Automotive Executive Of The Year By The Detroit Free Press

General Motors’ Mark Reuss, the incoming head of all global product development, has been making waves as the company’s chief “car guy,” championing vehicles of substance such as the 2014 Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. So even though he didn’t get the next CEO job, The Detroit Free Press has named Reuss as the 2014 Automotive Executive of the Year.

“I love the people that I work with, and I love the industry and I love the people I compete against,” Reuss told The Freep.

As GM North America President in 2013, Reuss oversaw the development and launch of vehicles such as the 2014 Corvette Stingray and 2014 Cadillac CTS, delivered a $5.6 billion profit in North America and introduced an updated 2014 Chevrolet Malibu.

Reuss was there to see the company despair but has been at the front of the company’s activities in recent history. All of his conversations he has with people, responding to criticism or joking with others, can be seen on his Twitter @GMdudeinNA.
