The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 just became even more famous. Four Wheeler magazine has awarded the vehicle the winner of its distinguished 2014 Pickup Truck of the Year Award. To be eligible for the testing, a vehicle must be brand new or matured from its previous model year.
The competition, over 25 years old, is a weeklong test displaying both on-and off-road examinations throughout Southern California. Judges test the vehicular performance of each pickup on different types of terrain such as deserts and mountains along with complex planned routes.
Chief Engineer Jeff Luke said he is honored the new vehicle has been given this award.
“Four Wheeler really puts pickups to the test, on road and off, and the results showcase the capability and refinement that our team built into the new Silverado,” Luke said.
Four Wheeler Editor John Cappa thought it was a particular good balance of suspension travel, power, braking, traction and comfort.
“One aspect our testers appreciated was the solid overall build as evidenced by simply sitting in the quiet interior,” Cappa said. He said it was like being in a vault, even over extremely jumbled and rocky terrain at speed.

Great! If only truck buyers felt the same way. One would think GM would be able to make some inroads in Ford’s F150 sales in 2013 with this new truck. It didn’t happen in 2013, so I got to think it will never happen!
