It’s not an auto show without some sort of highly anticipated vehicle leaking before its time, essentially spoiling the surprise and excitement that the model had going for it. The latest machine to fall victim to this folly is the 2015 Corvette Z06, but damn, does it look mean.
Also leaked were the power figures of the 2015 Z06 earlier this week, rating the race car for the road at a stratospheric 620 horsepower and ground shaking 650 pounds-feet of torque. Visually, you could fool us into thinking this is actually the Corvette Racing C7.R we’re looking at, as see about as much aerodynamic work as any given GT race car. So while the power figures are impressive, we’re sure that the downforce and cornering abilities on the 2015 Corvette Z06 will be on that same level of extreme performance.
Lastly, it appears as if the interior of the photographed Z06 showcases an automatic gearbox over the Stingray’s seven-speed manual. Is it a dual-clutch unit? Or is it an eight-speed? We’ll have to wait until Monday, January 13 for the official details to be released. In the meantime, enjoy the eye candy.

please be 8T
I expect the 8 speed as they would want to wait the performance models for it.
Nice car and the cool thing is the vents and spoilers will all be functional.
Too bad they did not change the grill to staggered teeth and it would have looked like Jake from the Front.
I like that grill a LOT more than the new C7. That huge chrome bar on the C7 is just not my taste, but this is real nice.
Though in truth, I don’t want a Z06… I can’t drive it, I’d die. I’ll take a nice Z71 (with a Z06 grill) and watch my insurance not explode.
I hope the Z06 gets either the 8-speed auto or the 7-speed dual clutch so that Corvette will be ready to defeat the GT-R, Porsche, Ferrari V-8, and Lambo’s new V-10 supercar. Furthermore, it is time that Corvette drop such cars as Benz E63 and Audi RS7 from its heels in the 1/4 mile and beyond, once and for all.
If only the SS would’ve gotten a touch of this type of bold, aggressive styling…this thing looks mean!
Also the GMC Canyon looks really top notch!!
This has gotta be fake. I mean come on, really? An automatic?!?
Finally, perfection does arrive. Absolutely striking in every respect. And with a proper DCT backing it up, it is indeed the perfect daily driver supercar. When can I order one in black?
Yes its time to show the world what we can do . Love the look
Incredible, fantastic, stunning. And finally with a DCT transmission to back it up. When can I order one in black?
That is power!
And Much torque !
I would like to make it available in some special colors:
Ashen Grey Metallic
Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic
White Diamond Metallic
Black Granite Metallic
Blue Granite Metallic
Silver Topaz Metallic
Sable Metallic
Zoom in on the shifter. It’s a manual.
Yes folks it is a manual. Look at the pattern on the top of the knob and no PRNDL.
The paddles are the rev match like on the Stingray.
I do expect a 8 speed option too since they are about half of Corvette sales.
I can’t wait to drive one! The c5 and c6 zo6 where really fun to drive!
I won’t be buying one of these. Very glad I bought my 2013 GS 4 LT when I did. I’m leaving this one for the drifter / transformer generation. I now proudly own my last and final corvette. I guess all that I like about the car is the 620/650, seven speed manual with rev matching and the ELS rear end. If I could transplant these features into my C6 I’d be really happy.
Damn thats hot !!!!!
Your Comparing This Corvette To A Gs 4!
That thought actually came into your brain that a gs 4 is a better option then this new corvette!
Hey next time your at it leave your balls on the night stand cuz you won’t be needed them anymore!
Men use to be men what the hell happened!
Brian the guy likes what he owns and let him enjoy it. It too is a very capable car and a prize to own. Even you said it the C6 was fun to drive.
At least he has a ZO6.
Would you buy what he did over a vette? My point!
Wow that car looks beyond amazing! I just hope they found a way to hook up all that power to the ground right from a dead stop. I’d love to see this car finally shut up all those who keep quoting the 0-60 time of the GTR. Tough to do with RWD I know but I’m hoping.
If I owned one maybe. The styling is more polarizing on each for different groups. Some folks like them cleaner others like the GTS track look.
Who is to say his or your Opinion on the styling is wrong. He as has as much right to his as you on the styling. Now for your opinion on his opinion not so much.
It takes all types to sell cars so it s good we have both sides. Also as with every C body half love it half hate it and in a few months 80-90% are good with it. Sometimes it takes styling to sink in.
Case in point I hated the Terrain when it came out. Today I have one in the garage. The styling really grew on me and I love it. I have no issue telling my appreciation changed.
It is highly likely the corvette even with its 620/650 will continue to get beat at the light by most any AWD vehicle simply because they cannot plant the power to the ground effectively and efficiently with no tire spin and all launch. Until GM corvette develops a 50/50 weight distribution AWD with effective launch control they will continue to get their butts waxed at the red light over and over again. This is why I drive my vet like a normal person and do not race it for any reason. It needs to last me for lifetime and I hate repair bills and tickets. Reserve you racing for the track. You’ll still get beat by AWD but at least it will be in front of a small crowd.
Do not underestimate RWD with todays technology.
While they may have a little more drive with all 4 tires there are issues there too.
The AWD takes power to run it and in some cases you would be amazed how much. Case in point we have a AWD street rod at work. It is a 32 Ford but on a custom chassis that uses a Syclone front drive and a ZR1 rear axle.
The car has 650 HP but it is faster with 2WD than AWD. How can that be well it takes 150 HP to drive the front driveline. So whole gain grip you lose it with the parasitic driveline loss. The car is about 2 seconds faster in 2WD vs. AWD on slicks. Now it will do 0-60 in 3 seconds but in the 1/4 mile it loses with AWD.
Add to this the traction control puts the power down with RWD and so the net HP loss is less and grip is nearly as good.
The AWD cars that do not get beat are cars like the Veyron etc. that have more power than they can use but some of the cars like the GTR and 911 can be beaten as they do not have more power than they can use.
It is a game of give and take at these performance levels. Add to this I did not even account for the added weight.
The GTR is faster in some forms like the $100K NISMO but in the cheaper version it is not all that much better than many other RWD cars if it is.
So the real fact is that there is no definitive answer here as while you gain traction you can gain more weight and more drag on the driveline. With many RWD cars the computers control the cars so much now that the car will not only put the power down but will also remain in control right to the limits of traction in the corners and get every ounce of grip.
Now if you have 1000 HP you are never going to use all of it AWD or not.
Wrong the paddles on manual cars say “rev match”, this clearly has + and — on them like auto cars. The gear indicator says “P” for park on the dash like automatic cars do. There is not a clutch pedal and the pedal looks wide like a automatic brake pedal. That looks like an automatic shifter to me, I think what u think is a H pattern on the top is something else written on it, it just kind of looks the same.
It’ll never happen – short of dedicated slicks. Just like the GT-R will never handle as well or be as responsive as a conventional RWD car thanks to the better weight balance and overall lightness of cars like a Corvette or 911.
Don’t forget, ALL race GT-Rs are RWD. There hasn’t been a competitive racing AWD GT-R since the 1st AWD variant; (R32) and it wasn’t racing on a world stage. Just beating up on Japanese contemporaries and what passed for decent race cars in Australia at the time.
This car probably won’t beat the gt-r 0-60. But who cares, the gt-r is a pig and it’s ugly. The current ZO6 already kicks it’s ass on the track so with the new one it will only be worse. Let the gt-r fans have their few seconds of fun, that’s all they have.
The Zo6 beats it at the track now and GM added over 100 hp to the new zo6
auto 8 speed will get the job done . You have total control of the power . My thy got it right . this will be a wanted world Corvette . Made in the good old USA
I’m glad GM is making these cars more accessible to more people which will bring in more buyers and will help sell the car even more!
Remember guys is these corvettes and I mean all of them don’t sell well enough we may just be seeing the last all new corvette!
