The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu has received a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment program.
Thanks to the Malibu’s ultra-high strength steel frame, additional rollover protection and 10 standard airbags, the midsized sedan earned the highest possible rating from the NHTSA.
“Safety is an increasingly important consideration for new vehicle buyers, especially for those in the midsize segment,” said General Motors director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness, Gay Kent. “The customer is at the center of our day-to-day operations and when we design vehicles, it’s their safety that we have in mind.”
As reported last month, Malibu sales rose 58% in October and 41% in November, contributing to the best sales year for the Malibu nameplate since 1999.

I was one of those buyers! Also, I did notice that the Malibu earned a “marginal” rating for the small overlap crash test. You might want to fix that GM!
