What do cars dream about when they go to sleep? The 2014 Corvette Stingray might dream about attacking the tight bends and Rahal Straight of Laguna Seca, cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway or lining up at the drag strip, but not all cars can have nice dreams.
Some will have sweat inducing, pants wetting nightmares about one day coming face to face with a growling, snorting monster like the Corvette Stingray. The poor McLaren in the latest ad for the vette’ might need to hop in bed with its owner before it can fall back asleep.
Though while the McLaren MP4-12C can out-perform the base Stingray in real life, we’re not so sure it will have the same luck with the 2015 Corvette Z06. We’re also pretty sure this isn’t an official Chevrolet ad.

I don’t remember a corvette ad ever before. It’s interesting the announcer calls it the “corvette stingray” and not the ” chevrolet corvette (stingray)”. They do show the bowtie and “find new roads” slogan at the end, but “chevrolet” is never spoken. This confirms my suspicion that GM may create a “corvette” brand with more models than the “stingray”. Corvette certainly would be a more powerful premium performance brand than Pontiac could ever be.

This confirms your suspicion? A FAN-MADE AD counts as proof? A fan-made ad made by people who have no connection to GM or it’s adverting staff is all the shaky and weak ‘evidence’ you need to make yourself feel justified in your delusion?
If you don’t think this is a fan-made video, consider the user who uploaded the video is named ‘Myws6’ and not ‘Chevrolet’.
You’re reading too much into a fan-made ad; FAR too much.
I just thought it was fun, just pure fun.
…especially, at 0:52, when the McClaren ‘woke up’ after having had an involuntary release of fluids.
This video does not confirm anything for me, but I always felt that Corvette needed to be moved out of the Chevrolet line and into it’s own brand of vehicles.
I do NOT, however, think that there needs to be many vehicles under the Corvette banner. Sure do not want a Corvette branded station wagon (though it would be kind of fun!)
As for the video, the use of dry ice fog was disturbing. Watching it roll toward the Ferrari as the Corvette engine revved made me think the Corvette was spewing exhaust fumes like crazy. Otherwise, interesting concept.
I always wished that Corvette would break off from Chevy and take over the Solstice / Sky line when Pontiac died to fulfill what Corvette used to say it wanted – a “poor man’s Corvette.
I roadster might be nice to see GM making again, but I am not sure they ever made any money with the category in their past attempts. If they do a roadster, it needs to be special. Despite the heritage of Corvette being the everyday guy’s sports car, I am not sure that’s where the brand is today. I would prefer a super-premium mid-engine model (which has been rumored) which undercut the exotics and would sell for $150,000 to $200,000. It is very important whatever is produced by Corvette be exclusive to Corvette and built in Bowling Green.
I truly believe Corvette is a powerful iconic American brand that should be at a minimum distinguished from Chevrolet and potentially extended. The only American brand that exceeds it in the motor world might be Harley Davidson.
“The only American brand that exceeds it in the motor world might be Harley Davidson.”
Putting Chevrolet and the Corvette BENEATH Harley?
-1.
Anyone remember the 1998 Pontiac Trans Am “Hungry” Commercial? 🙂
I do miss the Pontiac attitude of the late 80s and 90s. For example, “We Build Excitement”, to me, had a good vibe about it. (No pun was intended.)
Oh well, I still choose to live in the moment, thinking about how many fine vehicles choices we have.
And how many “Dans” and “Daniels” do we have here ? (You can add me to the list.)
Can’t wait for my silver Z51 coupe to arrive after the snow !!
Hi,
The Creator here. Yes it’s a spec commercial and not an official Chevrolet Commercial.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for posting it!
Are you kidding me? Seen any chevy body ink lately?
@Thumper
Looks like at least 4 of us so far!
@Daniel Hana
I remember that commercial so well! It is what caused me to go out and buy a ’98! Trust me, though, the TA wasn’t that hungry for Buicks and icy roads. The combo left my poor TA in about a million pieces, and me in the hospital for two months.
I showed this commercial to my 11 year old son a couple years ago. He thought it was pretty cool. Last spring when I was taking my ’01 WS6 out of the garage for the summer, my father and my 14 year old we’re shooting hoops in the driveway. As I start to move the car my 11 year old yells out, hey guys you better move, those scoops will suck you right in! I’m sitting there laughing and he looks at me and says, remember that commercial ?
