2015 Corvette Z06 Teased, Will Bow At 2014 Detroit Auto Show In January

Described as “the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features,” the 2015 Corvette Z06 has just been officially teased by Chevrolet. It’s not much, but here we see the vent at the back of what’s presumably the front fender, along with an aggressive wheel wrapped in Michelin rubber.

Previously, we’ve seen exotics such as the McLaren MP4-14C and Ferrari 458 Italia benchmark testing on the road alongside Corvette prototypes. It’s foolish to think that the 2015 Corvette Z06 is going to be anything short of mind-blowing when it’s officially uncovered during the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, happening mid-January.

  1. I can’t contain my excitement. Let’s see what improvements GM has brought to the table for the already stunning C7. The big question is, what is sitting in the engine bay?

  2. That’s the FRONT fender and wheel.

  3. The real q’s is how much hp can be pulled out of the ls7 while maintaining the same reliability?

If they can get the cylinder walls to hold up for super charging then watch out! I’d say 650 hp!

  4. I wish people would drop this LS7 talk. The LS7 is an old engine and the C7 is fully integrated into the new LT engine line. Similar but much different beast.

Second who said Supercharged and let alone on a 7 liter.

There have been some interesting names registered a little while ago like L88 and other name that have not been used yet. Look for an all new LT based engine with some other tricks. It could be a 6 Liter SC or Turbo.

600-650 HP is about right for the new car.

I can tell you no one will be unhappy with the car that is coming. If the base car is almost what the Z06 was just think what the real thing will be.

    1. Sources tell me that there weren’t any C7 mules running around with turbos. My money is on a supercharger, but my heart yearns for another all-motor application.

  7. Who says it even has to be Supercharged. Hmmm. Part of the Z06 package was always natural aspiration.
There is still room to work with the LT engine as it has yet to even be tapped.

Also the ZR1 replacement will need something special as the Z06 is going to be more the track time car vs. just super car sports car.

Look for the engine here to be shared in a Camaro and V series.

  8. Manoli, I have a feeling you are right. Mind-blowing I’m sure it will be. Looking forward to this one for sure!
No idea on the engine, but sure it will not disappoint. I really hope the Z06 or ZR-1 manages to find a way to shut down the GTR and shut up its minions who keep quoting the 0-60 time. Enough already!
