Automotive and Business Fleet Magazine has awarded the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 as its 2013 Fleet Truck of the Year. The award is decided by a panel of qualified fleet managers representing all industry segments and fleet sizes.
“We are proud to recognize the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 2013 Fleet Truck of the Year award,” said vice president and group publisher for Bobit Business Media’s FleetGroup, Sherb Brown. “The Truck of the Year award is voted on every year by fleet managers, making this a real honor for vehicle manufacturers that serve this professional segment.”
The all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 received the most votes among 36 trucks evaluated in this year’s competition. Helping its case was the EcoTec3 4.3 liter V6, which boasts a best in class towing capacity of 7, 600 lbs and the highest available payload rating of 2,108 lbs. The fuel-economy of the available 5.3 liter V8 also put the Silverado in the judge’s sights, while work-ready features like the EZ Lift and Lower tailgate and CornerStep bumper set it apart from the competition.
“It was our goal to provide our customers with a truck that can help them do the tough jobs and we feel that we’ve met that goal. The Silverado 1500 is a great truck.” Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet and Commercial Sales told Automotive Fleet Magazine.
