Jimmy Johnson drove his #48 Lowes Chevrolet SS to a ninth place finish at Miami’s Homestead Speedway on Sunday, earning the driver his sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup driver’s championship in the last eight years.
Johnson went into the final race of the season 28 points ahead of runner up Matt Kenseth. He finished the 2013 season with six wins, 16 top-five finishes and three pole positions.
Chevrolet also earned its 37th NSCS manufacturers championship, thanks to 16 total wins by Team Chevy drivers.
The 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup season will start on February 23rd with the running of the Daytona 500. S’go!
