Chevrolet Continues COPO Camaro Program For 2014, Will Auction Off First Model

Chevrolet’s COPO program is returning with a third-run of fifth-generation COPO Camaro race cars. Like the previous two years, only 69 COPO Camaro dragsters will be built for use in the NHRA Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes.

Customers will have a wider range of engines to choose from for the new COPO Camaro, which also sports the revised front and rear fascia from the 2014 Camaro. A naturally aspirated 7.0 liter V8 is available, as well as a supercharged version of the 5.7 liter V8 introduced in 2013. Naturally aspirated versions of the 5.7 liter and 6.5 liter V8 will also be offered.

Underneath, the COPO uses racing chassis and suspension components including ditching the independent rear suspension set-up in favor of a solid rear axle. Every car comes fitted with a host of safety equipment, including an NHRA approved roll cage.

The 2014 COPO Camaro also receives new racing seats, a new wheel design and an updated graphics package.

The only COPO Camaro to be painted Ice Blue Metallic, bearing serial number 1, will be auctioned off at Barret Jackson’s annual January event in Scottsdale, Ariz. All proceeds from the car will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans, an organization focused on helping wounded veterans participate in marathons and share their success within a supportive community.

To order a 2014 COPO Camaro, or at least put your name on the list to maybe be lucky enough to get one, head over to Chevrolet Performance.
