Following in the footsteps of the Dubai Police, the Dubai Fire Brigade have purchased their own needlessly fast sports car for no apparent reason, a 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51.
Posted originally on Drive Arabia, The fluorescent yellow Corvette was on display at the 2013 Dubai Air Show, along some of the Dubai Police forces in-service exotics, including an Audi R8 and a Ferrari FF. Prior to upgrading to the C7, the Dubai Fire Brigade would roam the streets in a C6 Corvette with a huge rear spoiler. Yet, we don’t think it will be very effective in putting out any fires.
The Corvette is not totally pointless in this case. The Fire Brigade actually uses their C7 for faster response times to the scene of a fire or an accident and to carry first aid and other relevant equipment, but we still can’t figure out what the Dubai Police could possibly do with a Bugatti Veyron.

In-your-face America. Keep buying that oil! At least some of those dollars came back to America for the purchase of the Vettes.
“Trade imbalance” is too small of a phrase.
You do know less that 25% of our oil comes from the middle east right? Actually barely 12- 20% depending on the source.
Knowing that is in the neighborhood of $80 billion dollars of spending taken out of our economy is of little solace. We are not getting the trickle-down effect of that $80 billion to support our economy. Also, the supposition that where that $80 billion does trickle down through the mid-east economies sees some of those dollars spent on activities that promote the terroristic killing of other humans does nothing to ease “my” conscience.
95.673% of the oil that America uses is produced in America.
