With the first run of 1,000 2014 C7 Corvette Stingrays making their way to select dealerships across the country, General Motors has confirmed to GTspirit that there is currently a six-month waiting list for the Corvette Stingray, making them late for the holidays.
Customers are paying premiums from $5,000 all the way up to $20,000 to be moved to the top of the waiting list, with demand even coming from Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Only 900 out of the 3,000-plus Chevrolet dealerships in the U.S. are getting the opportunity to sell the new Corvette, after GM announced only dealers that had sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 would get the opportunity to sell the car.

I expect this to continue for a while with slow start up and Chevy keeping demand stretched out. Once other models appear they will speed up the Stingray.
GM does not want to flood the market with more cars than they can sell and will work with the demand to keep the flow there but car not sitting round getting discounted.
The psychological effect of some demand is great for marketing. This gives it the feel that you have the car that is hot and everyone wants.
I had the opportunity to talk to some Corvette insiders yesterday, right now they are not producing cars as fast as they could be, with good reason. They do not want to speed up the production line and risk a drop off in build quality, Corvettes of previous suffered from this and GM is making the right decision to not make the same mistake twice. Speeding up the production line may also overwork suppliers and create a demand they cannot currently match. You are correct about not flooding the market, the demand for these cars is huge and there is no reason to pump out as many cars as they can right now, they will have no trouble selling them in the future. Also, you are right about the psychological effects of demand, creating demand will only help the C7’s case, especially with it becoming more popular in foreign markets such as Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Hey Sam, do you know when the SS’ hits the dealerships? Also, when are the LTZ trims of the 2014 Malibu coming to dealerships? I’ve been looking at several Chevy dealers in my area and none of them have em’
Hey Evan,
The Chevrolet SS is expected to hit Chevrolet dealers in extremely limited quantities in December. The SS will be allocated to certain dealers based on previous sales figures of the Corvette and Camaro, so if you’re looking for one, find a close dealer with strong Corvette and Camaro sales. Only 900-1,000 will be coming in the first shipment later this year, and if you’re in Canada they will not be coming at all. As for the Malibu LTZ, it is expected to be arriving in greater numbers in dealerships this fall. I am sure you’re local dealer will have an LTZ example in by the end of the year or will be able to find one for you.
Curious. Les Stanford Chev in Dearborn Mi has 17 C7’s in stock and for sale on it’s website as of this date?
I checked up on this, I did not see a C7 for sale on their website, but did find a link saying they will order one for you. They do however have a large inventory of 2013 C6’s. Do you have the link where you found these 17 C7’s for sale?
Interesting that Les Stanford Chevrolet in Fords HQ city has a bunch of Vettes. I drive by there all the time the place is packed with Corvettes. Congrats to Chevrolet they have done a great job on the design and build of the C7.
thinking i won’t see a new one of these this year in canada . maybe at christmas.
You can see Ford World HQ from Standfords lot.

The link is under new vehicles. Then pick cars and a C7 icon comes up. Do not go to the new Corvette main link.
I just looked again and 16 show. All various equipment levels. I was shocked
Sam
Matick Chev has one C7 in stock. Same link process I detailed for Stanford under new vehicles and cars
They are in redford Mi
looks like they have a lot in stock or they have these one’s ordered and arriving soon.
10 are at the Dealer unsold now and 7 are on transports. Curious, you would think only sold orders.
considering they just started shipping 2 weeks ago and are allocating a certain amount per dealer, this must be one of the top corvette dealers anywhere .plus you would think they would have been scooped up by now ?
Robert,
They are top Vette Dealer, but have 10 you could buy today and the reported 6 month wait? I realize you might wait that long on a new order, but Dealers do have them to sell NOW
My dealership has a few order spots left. I represent Blasius Chevrolet in Waterbury, Connecticut.
